Thunderbird Club

My dad had a VW Beetle, and there was a well behind the back seat. My brother and I would bounce over the seat and into that well when we were little. It was SOP for riding in that car. Seat belts? It didn't have seat belts. They wouldn't have made a difference in that flimsy tin can anyway.
Wow! Beat me to it! My mom had a 72 and I remember that well like it was yesterday, my brother and I used to get in it and make funny faces out the rear window at cars behind us...when I see a bug these days I cannot believe we fit in there!

Dad's was a '62 or '63, not that they were any different.

We were poor and my Mom didn't have a car. I played in traffic. Gotta be tough and fast.

The great lefty experiment continues...

Running minor and major scales is getting easier, so I can't declare the experiment a failure. But nor can I do it easily, and I am not up to playing any songs yet. So, nor can I call it a success. I will have to continue the experiment until I can declare success or failure.

I vote success: doing this keeps you focussed and who knows what creative juices you might get out of all this.
Way to go, amigo :-)

In the late 1970's I had a 1968 VW Bug. The wife and I would sit up front, the back seat area was big enough that we used to put our one year old in a portable play pin back there. I don't think kid safe car seats became widely in use in the US until around 1980, at least that's when we wised up and started using them for our kids.

With all the depressing virus news I'm looking at the bright side and proactively getting ahead of the curve...

Or you recover before either happens, and call the game on account of health.

Sorry to hratthat. What bummer. Our nearly sold-out gig opening for The Undertones on 4/15 was scrapped today as well.

Oh man, that’s awful. But you’ve sent me into a rabbit hole.

All these gigs getting cancelled really sucks. But I would be super bummed to miss out on opening for The Undertones. :(:(

As I grow tired of waiting for Eppi to release a NR VP I'm starting to get that wandering eye and itchy credit card finger. The Eppi JC is a real contender for my money, potentially this also a contender...

...anybody have any experience with the bisonic equipped Guild Starfire II? I like the thought of a SS on a hollow body vs the 34" scale of the JC.

I remember the first seat belts (front only) we had. Dad ordered a kit and installed them. My young self helped. I held a wrench on each nut as he tightened its bolt. somewhere in the 1962-1964 time frame, I think. That would have been a Ford station wagon, but I don't recall the model. We had a Falcon until 1960, but I don't remember what replaced it- either a Fairlane or a Galaxie. (Definitely a three on the tree, for anyone who recalls those.)
Ironically, on long trips, we'd lay eth back seats down and put a mattress in the back. All four of us kids would hang out back there, at least until we got our first air conditioner.

No experience, but that sounds like it should be lovely. Certainly looks lovely.

Note on the VP with Cobalt flats vs tone...
I had been running my Boss GEB-7 with a lop-sided mild inverse smile (more treble cut) on my plain IV with CFs. For the VP with RS66s, I ran a different inverse smile with even more highs cut, and there was still lots of angry piano kerrrang! But with Cobalt flats on the VP, I have to run things basically flat. Any rise in the mids at all leads to honk somewhere in the range of the first few frets.
That said, it didn't take long to sort that out, and she definitely brings the thunder, but I can still get all the mids and highs I want, when I want them. (I don't typically want a lot, but every once in a while it gets funky.)

Almost bought an “old stock” one last year when a store changed hands and they were moving everything they inherited at fire sale prices. Played it five or six times. Almost. It was nice. Sounded great. But the body ergonomics just weren’t working. I couldn’t get comfortable with it. So I passed. Still kinda regret it, but know I made the right decision.

Again, seriously impressed you're doing this.

We had the ‘59 Volvo PV 544. Came standard with front shoulder belts. No lap belts. My dad rigged what could best be called harnesses in the back seat for my brother and I. That was my main drive in high school. I’ve always used a seatbelt of some type.

I've used shoulder belts since they came out. I've long wished for a 5 point harness.
