Thunderbird Club

My daughter is a graphic designer working with/for a company that seems to deal in promotional flyers and other items.
They are all now (as of end of today) either laid off or on indefinite unpaid leave. All their customers are canceling their functions - no need for promotional items.
Just got real for us.
sorry to hear this Vee..

For a while now I've been contemplating putting my 2015 pups in smoke or chrome black cans with faux trim rings. Very easy to do on the 15 since the pups aren't epoxy set in the covers, just held in place with a dab of silicone caulking. It will change the voicing a bit according to the non scientific test I did, but I'd consider it an improvement. And it's completely reversible.
I’ve been looking for those smoked black cans and rings. Saw pics once (I think here) but cannot find anywhere. Would you have a link you could share?

Black plates are a requirement on '15s. I don't remember how many of us have them. Four? And all of us went for black replacement pickguards. White works fine on everything else, but black just makes a '15.
It does.

LOL - Same here. I have dozens of different brands and models of basses in all different scales and even many in 5 string. I have yet to find a neck I can't get along with. I might be a bit more Neanderthal though. ;)
Us CroMagnons are refined and urbane by comparison. We have progressed to painting ourselves blue and running through the forests instead of just clubbing things. But there are those knuckle dragging similarities.

That would be interesting. Where would you find cans that fit?

If you are referring to the Guild - it's semi-hollow and singles (Darkstars)
I stand corrected on the pickups. The EB-2 is semi-hollow as well. I would still expect them to sound somewhat similar, especially since my EB-2 has a Dimarzio One instead of a mudbucker. It would be good to try one. F-holes and archtops are one of those things that always get my attention.

Tomorrow morning our Governor is signing a bill officially forcing ALL restaurants and bars to close. The bill states “All on premise dining” meaning any establishment that serves food or beverage. I don’t even want to think of the number of employees who literally just forcibly lost their income and what the ripple effect of that on the economy will be. But I can tell you that it has me unable to sleep.
We are thinking about our favorite place around the corner. They have done a pretty good take-out business for years, but we have always eaten in when we go there. I guess we will do takeout now, for as long as they stay open.

We actually care a lot about what happens to them, as people, never mind that they are our favorite restaurant.

I just posted this in the Carina thread. The Chinese pro basketball league just announced plans to try to restart the league by early April - even recalling foreign players.
I guess we shall see what happens. They are a month or so ahead of us, and they have a different moral, social, governmental, and economic system. I make no value judgments, just an observation.

Expensive, but....

It needs its covers, though.

I have thought about saving up and coughing up for a '64 or '65 one day. But what would I do with it? I would be protective of it, and it would end up staying in its case most of the time. So what's the point? I probably ought to sell the EB-2, since that's mostly what it does these days. After Almost 40 years, I can't imagine not having it, but on the other hand, it hardly comes out to play any more, no matter how good I think it sounds.

Wow!

I can foresee constitutional challenge(s). And lawsuits against the government for loss of livelihood. As much as I will argue for over-reaction followed by dialling back, this seems extreme. What next, closing of any business with more than 100 on-site employees?
Actually, they already did. They put a stop to ALL gatherings of more than 50 people. that means your local church, your office, ANYTHING. If it has more than 50 people, you can't do it any more.

I can see a couple of reasons for it:

1. They are crazy, and don't care about their (or our) people.
2. It's a ploy to get out of paying the contracts of the foreign players. They don't show up from fear of Corona, those players get banned and their contracts cancelled, and they get new foreign players when they start back up.
3. Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel sooner than later...

I would believe all three at once.

Sorry to hear that.

My daughter is an attendant for Jet Blue, a company she loves working for. Some flights have been canceled and demand is way down. She’s flying less which means less pay. She’s managing ok, but we’re worried for her. But we’re even more worried when she does fly. They had an idiot passenger board in New York the other day who was waiting for test results. He found out mid-flight the results came back positive. That one idiot caused a major s*******m. What that guy did makes no sense; airlines are waiving cancellation fees. Crazy times.

yeah, see where you’re coming from. I don’t really gig mine cause I prefer a IV over a II, maybe @GonePlaid wants to trade...:smug:

I’ll not spend that kind of money on a bass. But if I had one, I’d play it and enjoy it. It’s no fun keeping something that special in a case.
