Thunderbird Club

yes until 76.
We had local assembly on Beetles, Kombis, Type 3, Country Buggy, Passat, Audi Fox, Golf.

Can’t remember K-G, I think they may have been full import.
If they were made in Germany, when they came around the tip of Africa, they automatically became rhd.:smug:

Things are rough....They just closed home schools here. ;)

But seriously pubic schools are closed until April 10

You should see what's happening here in NYC. I'm now working from home, all of our offices are closed. I also heard through the grapevine that the national guard may come in, in 4-7 days and may shut down the city except for food.

I went into work today and will until at least the rest of the week or until I'm told not to. At least the subway has been great.

At the risk of saying something unpopular...

When I did a quick search for ACLU news, there was something about a vanity license plate and something about prison inmates right to be protected from corona virus. I would have thought the ACLU would have been advocating some sort of position balancing the public health issue against the freedoms guaranteed by the first ten amendments (even if they don't particularly care to and have never defended #2). But nothing discussing the obvious curtailing of freedoms in the name of public health - note not advocating for or against, but just a discussion.

Shutting down the economy will save a few lives, but will certainly cost some as well. Further, it could push a number of people at the margin into poverty. Increasing poverty is associated with poorer health and shortened lifespan. This itself argues that there is some optimization that allows for a certain death rate from the virus to prevent a lot of other deaths. It is a great ideal that no one should die, but it isn't realistic. Perhaps we need to be searching for the least worst outcome across a large number of metrics and not focusing on one virus.

But what do I know. I'm just some idiot on the internet who does outcome measures and health economics for personal entertainment. But I do play a Thunderbird.

I rode the subway every day during the SARS outbreak in Toronto ('02 I think). Another Corona virus. We are safer than the news would lead you to believe. But that doesn't mean you should be licking all the seats on the subway either. And washing hands with soap and water regularly is a good idea all through cold and flu season (and the rest of the year).

I don't disagree at all. Although i don't work for ACLU, it is a (cough), "non-profit"legal firm.

Yesterday morning I took my 'Bird outside and hit it with some paper towels and a spray bottle of alcohol, so I could bring it up into the house from the basement.
My wife has asthma and my daughter is about 2 months pregnant, so we're keeping a tight ship. I'm not working, for this week anyway, so the shape of life is... different. But I've still gotta play, and when this all passes and live music is once again a thing, I'd best have my chops in-hand.
It's going to be good to play out again- clubs're gonna be packed, lol. And the Thunderbird's going to be there, delivering...

Now, a question for @JIO , got any clips of your Thunderbird with the SD Hawkbucker? I'm very curious about that.

Reopening as I imagine most of you have seen my previous post. Please...the focus of this thread should be on Thunderbirds. Thanks.
Marshall,

Thank you for you understanding and efforts. We may not always show it, but we appreciate the work you and the other volunteers do.

I understand that silicon valley is particularly hard hit in the current panic. Hope you and your family stay safe and well.

In a thread elsewhere entitled "'66 Thunderbuckers vs Chinabuckers Shootout...with clips", the Cataldo guy quoted the Thunderbucker guy giving these numbers for the pickups (and included an explanation if you need it):

Pup R L Q
66N 8.635 3.713 2.095
CBN 8.420 3.031 1.801
66B 9.231 4.371 2.267
CBB 9.382 4.026 2.054

Gee, it would be interesting to have these numbers for the ProBucker 760s. The frequency at which he measured L and Q appears to have been a little under 800Hz.

But I'm posting to tell you that it's easy to hear that the 760s are the above type of pickup (reactive, like a J pickup), and they are decisively unlike the modern Ric Hi-Gain, which have lower inductance and higher resistance (partly because they're wound with thinner wire), and therefore much lower Q, and so are lacking some things I can't live without.

It's the Ric Hi-Gains that drove me toward the TBird world, and I'm telling you that my Embassy Pro satisfies fully in this regard!

So..... I have been pretty busy. When not working I have bee going to my unions training site. I have decided I want to go deeper into the world of cranes and the need of a CDL is very real. I have put it off too long and now I believe the lack of it is hindering my income, so the training site is where I have been. Then the other day(Mon) in the middle of the day an announcement is they are closing for a minimum of thirty(30) days. No work, No training, gotta stay home. I decide to step in here to say hi and guess what, Ya'll got the place under lock down! lol

Fortunately the Thunderbird Club is back! Hello everyone, I'm back :smug:

Not mine - saw it on eBay. Posted only because of the name. (and that CS works on/likes these vintage amps) Looks similar to an Ampeg B15 (with added master volume) but Chucky would be able to extrapolate.

I saw one of these in a local Music-go-round a few months back. Seriously paused to think on it a little.
