Thunderbird Club

I haven't googled it and don't recall for sure, but wasn't the 383 the larger block? I was thinking that the 360 was the last of the 318 size block. But I honestly don't remember. It's been decades since I've even thought about that.

I'm with you on the MOPAR love! That just sounds weird, doesn't it?o_O
no replacement for displacement....there's NOTHING like an american OHV V8...

I was in NYC in '70. The guys I was with suggested we go to Manny's(we'd come up from FL to retrieve their gear from a previous tour). There was a guy testing out a 'Bird-which I think he bought-and I asked if I could see it. Now, I was playing a '66 EB-3 in those days so the 'Bird looked BIG but as soon as I got my hands on that neck and ran a few patterns-no amp BTW-I knew I had to have one-someday. That day came +/- 3 years later at a little shop directly across the street from Manny's. I've forgotten the name but @JJR58 knows the place. We've been together ever since in "Good times, bad times"-w/ apologies to LZ.
I pull these pics out every once in a while..My daughter in this picture is expecting a Grandson for us in mid April..Sonogram shows that he has Thunderbird playing fingers..I’ll add another picture with him when he’s ready.Cheers!

Very cool. Congratulations!

Know your Thunderbirds.....How to spot a Gibson and an Orville

Back side of the headstock, the green is an Orville, the purple is Gibson. Note the shape of the tuners, and how they're mounted, also of note is the threading on the tuner shaft.

Note the width of the Orville's headstock.

Note the shape of the neck heels

Most telling here, note how the center block meets the body near the neck, while there is some inconsistency with Gibson over the many years of production, '76s don't seem to have this.

We need a database, with photos of these (and more) for all the models- Gibson, Orville, Edpiphone... was there another Gibson brand? And anything else that could be mistaken for a Gibson family bird.

Thanks. There's always something new to learn.

I really liked the first 4 albums. The Edge does have something unique and Adam Clayton is a really good player - in many/most cases, he carries the songs. And there are a good number of really solid songs.

But I can't stand a couple of the personalities. They fit into that Neil Young category.
I came to hear a concert, not a lecture.(never been to a U-2 concert-not a fan)

Spotted a Thunderbird in PitchPerfect 3. The band was called Evermoist o_O

Love the name of that band :roflmao: Every female I work with HATES the word "moist". Lol

I liked the first 4 albums as well. After that.........

Being as I'm mostly Irish I should prolly love them. I don't.

My guitarist friend/adopted family member is Irish and cannot say enough bad things about Bono. He has a particular name he likes to call Bono that happens to be another word women in the US find incredibly insulting.

Give me The Alarm any day.

WRT U2, I loved the first three albums. I liked a good bit of the fourth (Unforgettable Fire), but I thought Joshua Tree was spotty, and everything afterward spotty at best, some I never listened to more than once (sometimes partially).I know other people who didn't care for them until Joshua Tree. <shrug>

There are people in Ireland (and elsewhere) who love Bono and some who hate him. I doubt he's worried about it.

But now U2 is up after Janis. Thanks for the suggestion!
