Thunderbird Club

My white Thunderbird is currently tuned to drop D. I have the thought this morning to tune to D standard. It would put the notes where they are supposed to be. Anyone already doing that; if so, what are the advantages/disadvantages?

I tried that for a bit. Only problem was I was short on practice time and didn't want to to screw up live.Otherwise it worked fine. I had no issues; didn't even have to adjust the truss rod. Caveat: Epi IV (bolt-on).

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work for me as I have to read 'charts' with a coupla bands. To attempt to think about the notes not being in the same place they've been for the past 53 years would be a major PITA. Maybe if I'd tried it early on, but not now. Definitely an old dog in this case.
Me too. I haven't needed to over the decades, so no starting now.

....my first good bass. A '77, it had been in the window of Zapf's in Philly for a at least a year. I had been saving $ and was waffling between the T-Bird and a Rick (I was in my prog rock phase....). Zapf's finally dropped the price on the Bird and I bought it in '79 for about $500.00. Still my #1 bass. I still have the receipt, hang tag, pickup covers... and I'm still using the OHSC.
That would be about $1200.00 for a brand new TBird in today’s money. You got a great deal @heatheroo1!

This having to isolate isn’t all bad. Been flipping discs all day.

Ooh, that's a bit serious.

Yeah. That’s some serious coin dropped there.
Not at all! It's a Pro-Ject Debut III. I'd link to the manufacturer page, but it's kinda dead. I got it when my old Technics died. This one is interesting in that it's completely manual. Doesn't even auto-retract. If you want to go from 33 to 45, you have pull off the platter and move the belt to another rung.
