New review video is up! Looking at the Epiphone Thunderbird Pro V 5 string....

... Sorry Tbird friends. Not a fan of this one. That's not to say there won't be other birds in my future (though it'll definitely be a 4 string). Please don't kick me out <3

I have to ask, why? Of all the great Thunderbirds out there that you would choose this one? It's a foregone conclusion.:)

Here's what a real Thunderbird sounds like.

Yeah... This one was poop. Please, tbird elders.. guide my neophyte ways. What is a solid T bird that you'd like to see me review?

The two worth considering from Epiphone are the "Classic Pro" and "Vintage Pro" both are available and relevant.

Found this obviously re-finished bird on the net - kinda cool but I can imagine it getting old fast. I had an '06 '51P RI in what I called toxic mustard that I liked when I bought it but after a short while I refinished it.

Thank you m'queen :D. I'm definitely going to snag one or the other for the next round of reviews... I have so many to review still, AND I got something lined up with a small brand from Switzerland that is sending me an instrument to review :). Another TBird is on the horizon for sure!

Haven't yet watched your video, but could have told you that before you started.

[Update after watching:] Yes, the electronics are truly atrocious. I had the 4 string, and it sounded okay once the electronics were stripped out and the pickups replaced with some decent humbuckers (and standard 500kΩ pots) wired V-V.

I can put up with it getting old..

I like the colour, a lot. Same shade was used for the '90s RI's of Danelectro guitars/basses. (one of many pastels) Greens generally have always been less common.

Yep that sounds about right for that particular bird, which is an outlier in just about every sense.
I'm gonna go out in a slightly different direction and suggest you do a shoot out between an Epiphone Thunderbird VP and a new Epiphone Embassy. They both have the same pickups and similar woods but obviously completely different shapes and ergonomics. It might be interesting if they sound close enough because it would give those Fenderish inclined folks a non TBird shaped option to pursue if they like the sound.
Warning, if you're like most people, once you play the TBird VP you probably won't want to return it.
