Thunderbird Club

Nonsense, it's a fine lime finish.

Agree - I should talk...

Found this obviously re-finished bird on the net - kinda cool but I can imagine it getting old fast. I had an '06 '51P RI in what I called toxic mustard that I liked when I bought it but after a short while I refinished it.

I can imagine that if you tired of the color, you would be able to come up with another creative finish that you would like more. You have an eye for design/color.

:) Thanks - I actually like the coral colour and like it even more because it was the original colour of the 1968 bass. When I got it it was stripped to wood, but luckily the control cavity had all 3 layers (brick red, black and yellow) of past refinishes. Under all of them was coral over white. If that bird was originally lime green from the factory, I would probably like it more for that reason alone.

Interesting. Where did you find it? I did a quick search and it didn't turn up.

I have an Embassy Pro, a Ric and three different J-types.
My idea was to gain first-hand experience with these and so be able to eliminate some with peace of mind (so I wouldn't agonize over what I was missing) and choose a favorite, but I haven't been able to do it. I can't even eliminate rounds.

It's as though they're children and I must love them equally. Not rational.

I want to study and practice more. Suspect that if I could turn my mind to that, then in the course of being focused on something else one of these basses would get picked up more often than the others and a favorite would gradually emerge.
Not really. The more you play them, the more you appreciate each one for what it is and what it does. Picking a favorite child is the Sam metaphor I use. Although, I will admit there is magic in the 2001 'Bird.

That is one of the coolest birds on the planet. I get weak in the knees when someone posts a pic of it on here....So I’m thinking. Pick up a VP blem and send it to one of the reputable refinishers. It would be worth it and still come out somewhere around $1000. A bargain for a unique bird when you think about it.
That thought has crossed my mind. So have some others. One got done.

New review video is up! Looking at the Epiphone Thunderbird Pro V 5 string....

... Sorry Tbird friends. Not a fan of this one. That's not to say there won't be other birds in my future (though it'll definitely be a 4 string). Please don't kick me out <3

Several of us are not thrilled with active 'Birds. Besides, the Thunderbird club shares some characteristics with Hotel California.

I downloaded the tracks from when my new reggae band was in the studio. Figured I can probably do some other stuff with the drum tracks and realized Paul's just playing a rock beat.

yah, it would help if it was a reggae beat...
