Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. I hope all are staying well and adjusting to the new normal. I am slowly getting better at the working from home routine and have decided to enjoy it while it lasts. I have been able to take a few breaks, head for the man cave and get in a bit of practice time during the work day. Listened to a couple of albums while working this afternoon where the bass playing seemed to be exceptional. Jeff Beck's Truth, with Ronnie Wood on bass, and Johnny Winter's Progressive Blues Experiment, with Tommy Shannon holding down the low end. I enjoyed both these albums, and hadn't listened to either in a long time. I recommend them to anyone looking for some late 60's electric blues.
Have a relaxing evening everyone. Stay well.

I have and love my Epi T-Bird Classic Pro and Jack Casady...and just ordered a T-Bird Vintage Pro in ebony...and never thought to change the TRC.

I have and love my Epi T-Bird Classic Pro and Jack Casady...and just ordered a T-Bird Vintage Pro in ebony...and never thought to change the TRC.

These are folks that don’t also own a Gibson TBird so they’re doing the next best thing... looking like they have one.

On the other hand, I love the look of the Bicentennial TBirds and the Vintage Pro and so I can see doing to a VP while also adding a Gibson TRC, P/Up covers and a Bicentennial logo just to have a “copy” of the best looking TBird, to my eyes.

A combination of the three?

I think that many think of Epiphone being a "lesser" brand, as Squier is to 7ender. So, the same psychology that removes the Skwar waterslide and replaces it with a 7ender one, changes the TRC on an Epiphone.

Having said that, Chuck Garrick is proudly playing an Epiphone VP and Sheryl Crow's bass player (who's name escapes me right now) rocks a gold top JC.

I don't recall seeing any VPs with Gibson truss rod covers, as far as I recall anyway. I must admit when I got my first VP early on I considered it. Briefly. Anyone who knows anything about the bass is going to know it's an Epi with the Gibson trust rod cover on, it so what's the point. I'm not trying to impress anybody. I could care less about that. The more I played the instrument the more I liked it the way it was and felt no shame whatsoever about Epiphone. It's a well-made, fantastic instrument and well worth the money. More actually. Nothing at all to be ashamed of as far as I'm concerned. Epi deserves the name recognition. They've earned it.

Agree with you completely.
I have seen several pix of Epi VP's and CP's w/ Gibby TRC's online.
Often on Reverb with the disclaimer..."TRC changed by previous owner"

Since I own a mid60's NR, if Epi ever makes the VP, RI, NR, TB II/IV*, I'll be so thrilled I won't change a thing('cept strings).
