Thunderbird Club

This is why TB Club is so great. Collectively we can answer ANY question!

There's even a chance one of the answers will be correct-ish.
All of which are making me feel muuuuch better.

Well at least you all are providing some (poor:D) comic relief while I wait the new arrival. Gives me something to smile about while I anxiously wait. I don't like waiting for new instruments.

New bass?

Cherry Studio, a fellow TBer gave me a really good price, I've wanted one for awhile - when they first came out I didn't care much for them but it's grown on me. I've been working steadily with no job worries so now is a good time, I think a video will happen soon.

I like the simplicity of them, I tried to get ahold of a cherry one when they came out but could only find black. Congratulations! I look forward to your report!

Dropping this off tonight, I'm hoping the turnaround is quick!

THUNDERBIRD vs CASE

I played around with my bass and guitar cases a bit tonight and realized a few things.
The VP will fit in the rectangular case I bought 8-10 years ago for the BO Epi bird. Granted the headstock is pushed slightly into the lining, but it fits. The CP should fit better.
The VP will fit in the Coffin Case Extreme if I remove the compartment divider/lid. [1] This is true of the BO Epi bird as well, and therefore must be true for the CP.
Neither is as good a fit as the irregular quadrilateral case they sell for the VP, but they work.

This has me rethinking selling the Coffin Case, or at least what I am willing to take for it.

[1] I found an image suggesting I knew this before, but apparently I had forgotten.
I’ve taken to using the notes app on my iPhone/iPad so I don’t relearn what I already figured out before. Growing Old is Getting Old.

Update on the post office and the Thunderbird. Just got an update that the Thunderbird arrived in a Los Angeles post office today. Keep in mind it was supposed to come to Louisville, Ky and be here yesterday. Last I checked on the map that's the opposite direction. So for some reason it took literally one week to get from Phoenix to LA (less that 400miles, but still in the wrong direction)! I know some shipments go to larger locations because they are shipping hubs, but Phoenix is no small city and I don't imagine LA is a shortcut from Phoenix to Kentucky. I'm certainly glad I'm keeping those government workers busy.

It was supposed to be ground, but unless they put that thing on a plane it will be another week before it gets here. Assuming they can figure out which way East is located.
It's going west to go east-the long way.

Doggone post office. My Gibson Thunderbird was supposed to have been here Monday. Monday the tracking started showing that it was still in transit but going to be late. Then it started showing that it was arriving at the next destination, who knows which one that is, but was still going to be late. All the while still showing it was supposed to arrive Monday! The post office is really special. Today there is no date and it just says it is in transit, that it's going to be late and is in the process of going to the next destination. They have yet to list the last destination other that the original shipping point (left there May 5). I need to be here to sign for it, but now I have no idea when it's going to be here and have a couple meetings later in the week where I have to be gone. I completely understand that things can get delayed, but my concern is they don't seem to know where it is, was last or have any idea when it's going to arrive. Hopefully still not bouncing around Arizona waiting to get out of the state. Waiting on a phone call from the post office. No doubt they won't know anymore than the website which will add another level of concern. Fortunately the bass was insured. I was hoping to be cleaning, tweaking and playing the bass by now. In the mean time I wait.
Ah man. Frustrating. It’ll arrive and all will be well.

They should contrast nicely the Bird is Cherry, the dress is white and black. I have been working out like an idiot to look good in it. Sunday may be video day since it looks like rain, we'll see how the Bird sounds with the SIT strings you sent.

Contrast Panel Dress with Branded Belt - White
Sharp dress! Very handy zip front, should show off the Cherry bass nicely, among other things. You should see if they'll sell you an extra belt you can use as a guitar strap.

crazy...I think international works better these days....just got parts for my Triumph that according to the tracker were still in Britain on Sunday eve...

No kidding, my Tele bass sat in Pittsburgh for a week past when it was supposed to arrive, with no tracking updates. But it did finally arrive:

LOL - I remember the days when the best advice for eating Dominos Pizza was to open the box, throw out the pizza, and then eat the box. They got better, or so I've heard.

The best pizza I've eaten was a nicely folded slice of pie in NYC followed closely by a loaded meat lover deep dish pizza at Geneos in Chicago. Out here in California there's lots of choices and every topping you can imagine but I have yet to find anything as memorable as a good NYC or Chicago pizza.
lol Growing up in Alaska, if it was round and flat it was pizza. That was my introduction to Hawaiian Pizza Now that I am in the Chicago area I have become biased and far more picky.

If you're looking for new food options during this pandemic...I strongly recommend Lou Malnati's pizza from Chicago! Best. Pizza. Ever.
You can order it online and have it shipped anywhere...it's all my Dad wants for his birthday, Father's Day, and Christmas gifts after he moved from Chicago to Florida many years ago.

That place is the bomb! I've shipped their pizza to my parents when they were living in Phoenix.:hyper:

I now eat a modified diet so Lou's is out, they do have a Kito pizza(no crust) but the just set the same.:bored:

I recall two places I like when I lased visited Chicago close to 30 years ago. Walker Brothers (I think that's right), waffle house. Best Belgian Waffles I've ever had. Had pizza at a not very impressive looking little place as I recall that I think was called "De-something or other" or maybe it was Geno's. It was a pie and it was good! Super deep dish and about one piece was about all you could eat. I never saw a pizza with a "top" on it before.

I did not get a chance to play a Thunderbird while there.

Genoe's East is very popular and one of the original Chicago Style Pizza places in Chicago. I have not been there but the pace gets rave reviews.
