Looks like the one I just got, sans case and toes! Haven't had time to clean mine yet either, had to get a fridge replacement first. What's more important, cold food or a clean Bird? You know where my head was at, wife out voted me

The VP is just such a great bass at (and even above) its price point. It's hard not to have one (or two, or three) in the collection. What strings do/will you have on yours?

I just always assumed the Hemi was faster than the 440 six pack in the quarter mile, not so, learn something new every day.

The VP is just such a great bass at (and even above) its price point. It's hard not to have one (or two, or three) in the collection. What strings do/will you have on yours?

Right now all I have are GHS Bass Boomers, Long scale, pretty much go on everything I have except for a HB 50s P Bass that has a set of flats on it. When I had a few minutes with it I noticed the length of the strings appears to be much greater, from bridge to tuning pegs, than my other basses. Will long scale strings fit the VP or will I need a set of extra longs for it?

Looking at @MCF VP he just got, the fretboard is super dark compared to mine. Do you think that mine is rosewood? It supposed to be.

DR Lo Rider on mine. I am happy.
Still want to try some nickels or cobalts rounds.

With DRs I get easily 3 wraps on G tuning peg on my VP. No need for extra long set.

That's one that could make me consider a big amp that wasn't an ACC 360.

Just a quick reply to say it arrived around 9:30 PM last night. I didn’t have the energy to do anything other than make sure it was ok. It is. The finish looks to be in better shape than I expected. It seems to be on the lighter side. The fretboard is dark, needs cleaning and a fret polish. I’ll plug it in tonight and make sure everything works. Oh, and the headstock is massive. Here’s an initial pic:

Yours looks more like rosewood than his does.

I've not had any long scale sets not work on either of mine.

Very nice! Congrats on the NBD.
Always interested in hearing other VP owners string journey. Seems like just about every string I try on mine sounds great. Running Fender 7150 round nickels right now but due for a change soon.

Per the seller, it has D’Addario Pro Steels that he put on when he took it in in a trade. Not sure of the mileage on them.

I must be weak, only took a month or two in the club before someone posted a deal I couldn't refuse. But being that I haven't spent much money for the last couple of months, I had the funds readily available. Next time I'll try to look away, I don't have any more room in the studio.
