Right now all I have are GHS Bass Boomers, Long scale, pretty much go on everything I have except for a HB 50s P Bass that has a set of flats on it. When I had a few minutes with it I noticed the length of the strings appears to be much greater, from bridge to tuning pegs, than my other basses. Will long scale strings fit the VP or will I need a set of extra longs for it?
....With DRs I get easily 3 wraps on G tuning peg on my VP. No need for extra long set.
Pretty much the same experience here with string length on a VP. Yes it is a long distance between ends but so far I've only had one close call. That was with Cobalt Flats, which managed just a tad over one wrap at the G string post. Not ideal but it worked, if I had followed the EB Cobalt stringing protocol I probably would have been over one and a half wraps.I've not had any long scale sets not work on either of mine.
