Thunderbird Club

Right now all I have are GHS Bass Boomers, Long scale, pretty much go on everything I have except for a HB 50s P Bass that has a set of flats on it. When I had a few minutes with it I noticed the length of the strings appears to be much greater, from bridge to tuning pegs, than my other basses. Will long scale strings fit the VP or will I need a set of extra longs for it?

....With DRs I get easily 3 wraps on G tuning peg on my VP. No need for extra long set.

I've not had any long scale sets not work on either of mine.
Pretty much the same experience here with string length on a VP. Yes it is a long distance between ends but so far I've only had one close call. That was with Cobalt Flats, which managed just a tad over one wrap at the G string post. Not ideal but it worked, if I had followed the EB Cobalt stringing protocol I probably would have been over one and a half wraps.

What? Barbecued parrot is not actually a thing? Explains why people have been looking at me funny when I asked if they have it.

you boil parrots

My Dad told me

you boil a billy, put a rock in the bottom and add a parrot. Let it boil for half an hour, throw away the parrot and eat the rock.

I held out for a little less than three years, pretty much always knowing one would land here eventually. I suspect one will find you too.

but it is not Pelham Blue.... yet ?

The NR, with the claw/bridge setup has never required me to go for extra longs with any strings I've put on her. BTW, I know it's not TT, but it is in OZ.:smug:

It will be. In a while. No hurry. There are renown refinishers in SoCal, one that’s pretty much on the way to my brother’s place so I won’t have to ship it. I’ll get serious when things open up more. It will cost more to have it done than I paid for it. It’s only money.

Things like that are why God gave us credit cards.:bag:

And, the club is here to enable. It's inevitable. But it will have to be refinished. I don't want a white one, a black one, or a burst one. Pelham Blue would work. I already have a BMM 'Bird.

I'm not as knocked by PB as some of y'all*, but that JC is freakin' gorgeous.

* good Southern term meaning.....uh, y'all.

Just a quick reply to say it arrived around 9:30 PM last night. I didn’t have the energy to do anything other than make sure it was ok. It is. The finish looks to be in better shape than I expected. It seems to be on the lighter side. The fretboard is dark, needs cleaning and a fret polish. I’ll plug it in tonight and make sure everything works. Oh, and the headstock is massive. Here’s an initial pic:

Dude! Shoes or nail polish!

I must be weak, only took a month or two in the club before someone posted a deal I couldn't refuse. But being that I haven't spent much money for the last couple of months, I had the funds readily available. Next time I'll try to look away, I don't have any more room in the studio.
Two is even better that one.;)

But it will look so stinkin' good. It will be the envy of us all.

Then Epi will start offering them....
