I am repeating this with you..... And adding: There's no way I'm buying another Thunderbird for a long time. There's no way I'm buying another Thunderbird for a long time.....

Peavey T-40 pickups wired passive with coil tap switches, weird how much it sounds like a T-40 even with the different pickup spacing
And that’s not a bad thing. T40s are great tone machines. And I bet your NR is a lot lighter. I have a Foundation with Super Ferites; it’s a great bass in its own right. Congrats on finishing your project. It really turned out well.

I have a 91 Gibson Thunderbird and while I always had a luthier set up my bass, after watching Dave World of Fun Stuff on Utube, I thought I would give it a shot at setting up my bass. It has been sitting in it's case for a long time (maybe 1 year) and the strings are too high. First thing I will try is adjusting the truss rod. It seems to have a hump where the neck meets the body. Where do I get the specifications for setting up this bass, looked online but didn't see any.

Same as the Epi. Only difference for any standard Thunderbird would be how to adjust a bridge if it's not the three point.

Huge Dave’s fan myself. His vids are great. Look up the ones where he explains how to “help” a neck straighten then setting the TR to hold it if you’re having issues straightening the neck by just turning the rod. It looks like others have chimed in re your question.

Oh, and ignore the one where he grinds the bottom of the bridge down to get lower action on a Thunderbird.

No tummy cut. Does that hint that they are heavy?

Nope, they're fine, I haven't weighed mine but it feels fine, not quite 34" scale and a little bigger neck, the pick up is not well mannered!

Funny! Weren’t we just talking about this with Kubicki preamps!
This bass looks amazing btw

:) Thanks! With help from a tb member in the Luthiers Corner, it has very sophisticated wiring. Both hum-bucking pu's are split and the three switches offer a myriad of coil combination possibilities.

But speaking of Kubicki - I just 'won' a Fender/Kubicki 9v pre-amp and 2 Lace Sensor J pu's (from a '93 Fender Jazz Plus) on eBay which I'll be installing in a '93 American Standard J I own. It has Nordstrand NJ4's but will sound like a Factor - on an active bass, a basses character originates from the pre-amp.
