I had D'Addario tapes on the 67 NR for quite awhile. Liked them a lot, but I wanted to try the EBCF's. I might go back to tapes some day, but for now I'm pretty pleased with the Cobalt Flats.wanna revisit the stock pups with LaBella tapes...

Curious as to why? Although I really like my stock one, only mod is the Babicz.this is getting a clear guard tomorrow and going back to the black hardware, stock pups and Hipshot bridge got some neat silver Bird stickers from Larry V....no routing on this NR....

I’ve had my VP for about a month now and am really enjoying it. It plays really well. But the reach for my short arms to the D and G tuners does make me wonder why. Not complaining though, it’s a great bass for the money. Let’s hope when the VP NR finally comes out, they do it with a little smaller headstock. It must be a deliberate alteration. It just strikes me as excessive that they made a historically big/long bass bigger/longer. A little bit yes ... a lot?
I could see myself driving that. A blue one would be cool.looks like Chevy got it right, 2020 Corvette with mid engine configuration...first time in person..

Runnin' outta mahogany?
Man. That’s low.Does anyone else set up his/her Bird for lots of clank? John Entwistle style. Mine is set up very low like all my basses (~1mm action). It gives a lovely clank, but the first fret sometimes frets out depending on the weather (the rosewood absorbs moisture and expands on a rainy day).![]()
Doesn't matter much to me. I get up to the 12th fret about once per gig.Upper register access, it meets the body at a different location compared to a Gibson.
Looks like a blast to drive and a real bang for the buck bargain in the high performance category. That said, I know more than a few Porsche GT3 RS track drivers that aren't concerned about being overtaken by the new C8 on a road course, a quarter mile drag strip, or a top end run.yeah, going today!!....
rear engine outhandling mid engine? nah...in the hands of an expert driver it may come close but physically, the mid engine makes most sense...I went through HS is a 76 930 Turbo...

Until the tires lose adhesion and the fun begins.Sure, the balance (or front to back ratio in automotive terms and measured in percentage, 50/50 being optimum) is best when the engine sits between both axles instead of hanging over the front or rear one.
I play around 10-15 pretty regularly. That is a sweet spot on a lot of basses.Doesn't matter much to me. I get up to the 12th fret about once per gig.
I've hot lapped the C7 at Laguna Seca and it was a blast (a little wild, but still fun).

Interesting. Why going back to black hardware?

I own and play a lot of basses and love them all, but there's something about that one that checks all the boxes for me. Because of the twin steel beams in the neck (no tr) its only drawback is a bit of neck-dive as it is a long bass. Other than that - if I could find another I'd get it to see if it's just that bass or if that model was a winner.
Check this out - if I would have seen it when it was on Reverb (years ago) I would have done anything to nab it. 57yrs old brand new. (100% original w/OHSC) My late '60s Coral was basically this same Dano bass rebranded.

I seriously doubt that my conjecture is right--but it is something I would consider doing if I were Gibson/Epi to help avoid that temptation. Because a fake 60s Thunderbird would be WAY more valuable (and way more tempting) than a fake '80s G&L.I would like to know/hear Epi's thinking about this - their marketing philosophy. Because if I were commissioned to make an authentic '63-'65 T-bird it would be to exact measured specs off of mine. You may be correct that they made it bigger so it wouldn't be passed off as a legit early '60s bird, but I would like to hear them say that to make sense of it. G&L did a bang-on RI of their early L-1000/L-2000 series basses from the early '80's and I very much doubt they are BIGGER than the originals.
Dumb question my bridge humbucker sounds dull compared to the neck humbucker. Is there something wrong with it or is there anything I can do to fix it?
Its about a quarter to half of and inch differenceHow does the string height compare between the two?
Hi. There is no such thing as a dumb question around here. You’re asking about on the white T-bird in your avatar? First thing to try is adjusting pickup height and see/hear if there is a difference. Ask as many questions as you need. Lot’s of help to be had from the group here.Dumb question my bridge humbucker sounds dull compared to the neck humbucker. This is much better. I'm not all that fond of modern Corvettes though they are made here. This might have some promise.looks like Chevy got it right, 2020 Corvette with mid engine configuration...first time in person..
