Chromes on my MIM P are a match made in heaven. I love that bass. Never thought they’d be a match for a bird though. I’m expending my horizons and will try them on a bird.
Told you so! About getting that bird I mean. Your journey has been fun to read about. I so want another Gibson. Here’s the current family flock.I used the DR Black Beauties today on the 06 Gibson. Might be the string! They came on the bass, but who knew? Overall they sounded better with (miles) pick, fingers, neck pu only or both. I was really liking the neck only, pick or fingers. Going to leave them on and see how it goes. I have a set of DR Dragon Skins with the same K3 coating. They are not black and don't feel the same. Might not be a bad option either. But the black strings are growing on me. Good tone today and a happy camper with that bass. No more while playing thinking, "What can I change or adjust to sound better."

I believe it is 9. That is from picking up a couple of them in GC over the years. A Pro IV is 7 and looks different.

Yep. I should have just listened to counsel's advice on that! The bass is really fun to play now. It always felt great, but now that the sound is there, it's just fun like it should be! I felt really bad when I was going nowhere and just seemed like I was whining. I was just frustrated because I wanted this bass to sound so good and I wasn't getting there. I'm grateful for the Sonic Maximizer as well. It now sounds great, and sounds different from the other Thunderbirds.
Great pic! I really like the NR and a '15 would be very tempting if one ever came up for sale. I hope nothing good comes up for sale for a long time. I would really need to sell something, like one of the G&Ls or the Malti-poo.

Thanks. I’ve been in the shed all day with them (actually the bedroom, it’s the coolest room in the house given it’s 101 outside). Each one is a little different with its own personality. Today I was reminded how fortunate I am. I love my THUNDERBIRDS!

You are truly a renaissance man. I see three point, Babicz, and Hipshot bridges.
I realize the Epi website is not definitive (which is incredibly ironic), but per wayback.org (which archives the web), Epi claimed the CP was 7 ply mahogany/walnut, and the Pro was 7 ply (maple/walnut). The current Epi site claims the VP is the same as what they said the CP was.
Rules are made to be broken. As long as you don’t effect anyone else it’s all good. As I said, I like!
