Thain’s liner note describes it as “based on an overflow of material that he (Ken) has expressed a desire to record.” Thain and Dave Paul (don’t know of him) are the bassists, but the tracks that each of them appear on aren’t specified. Kerslake on drums. Ken plays everything else. I’ll have to try and research it. A couple tracks are classic Thain and its easy enough to know it’s him. There’s a version of Rain that’s different than the UH version since he’s singing it. Great piano on it. Overall, it’s pretty mellow, a little bluesy in places. I don’t think I’d listened to it in 35 - 40 years. Glad I did.Oooh. How is it? What style music?
Intervention time.
And this is why you should buy one, experiment and report back!I wonder if there are multiple reasons for using a HPF and that changes where the HPF goes in the signal chain. But there I go logicing again...
First TT! I love this bass so far! More thoughts to come as I get to play it more. But I’m VERY happy I got this model in this finish. So beautiful. Love the way it’s made. Love the inlay, the Grover’s work good. Everything is good. It was an easy lefty flip. I even kept the same nut and just filed it to the new strings. GHS Pressurewounds tuned to C standard.
My Bird is gonna bring the Doom.
Also @BklynKen you were right about the strap button. When I hold the bass at my 30-45 degree angle the strap button on the neck is further forward than the horn by a long shot. Putting it on the horn will make the headstock hang lower by a matter of physics. I’ll post a pic of that later.
Also I can’t remember who but you were right about the white pickguard. I’m sticking with it for now.
You guys are right about a lot of stuff.

He in fact had tremendous range and used it in a lot of his songs. A lot of other lead singers of the day may have had range but didn't necessarily use it, instead they just focused on singing in higher octaves. To me, only Bowie had range. God I miss him.
You need to play some Bump-n-Rind music with that post.
You are disturbing, yes, I said that!![]()
That sounds like it could be fun...Intervention time.
I am more of a tenured professor type. Think of the experiment but have grad students do the experiment. And this is why you should buy one, experiment and report back!

Congrats! The possibilities are endless! Convert to a II? Keep it as a IV? Paint it Pelham Blue or Burgundy Mist Metallic or Inverness Green or ...can’t wait to see what you do.Third Thunderbird Thursday..
I’ve put the word out that I was looking for another VP Thunderbird in white..Well I found one and worked out a trade with a fellow member of the FB Thunderbird page..The one on the left will be a “Project”for this winter..even though it’s in mint condition.
It was a little poetic..The Thunderbird arrived via UPS just moments before a massive Thunderstorm hit..Cheers and happy TB Thursday.View attachment 3915886 View attachment 3915887
That is gorgeous. And yes, with that finish, the classic white PG works well.First TT! I love this bass so far! More thoughts to come as I get to play it more.
