Dirty Deeds Done with Sheep...Dirty Deeds done dirt Cheap?
There's a bathroom on the right....Dirty Deeds Done with Sheep...
It was worth a call. Sorry it didn't work out.Well, I just got off the phone with that GC with the white VP for $450. The ad says 'neck repair'-not repaired. The guy I talked to says it's pretty bad and prolly needs a new neck. Since it's 'neck-through', that sounds kinda like $450. for a set of pups. And some old strings. But. It does have a Ron Jon sticker.
Thought y'all might be interested in an update.
Thanks! I might have a project one Saturday. What I did was copy the T-Bird from the Original Pickguard with my printer onto a piece of paper. In fact, I think I enlarged slightly, (thought it would look better). I cut it out, and then traced (fine point black felt pen) the edges onto the piece of Abalone that I had bought. I used a piece of the mylar double stick tape to hold the paper cutout in place on the Abalone sheet to trace properly. Then carefully cut with a new pair of hair cutting scissors. CA glue stuck it on.
And coat with the CA to the edge, but don't apply too much, so to not squeeze out when applying.
Easy peezy. Just carefully cut.
Still, I shoulda axed for a pic to be sent. Who knows? It might be worth making an offer-less than the $450.It was worth a call. Sorry it didn't work out.
I don't know what a repair would cost, but you can offer anything. Tell them you might be interested, but not at that price. All they can say is ___, and you're not worse off, but might find a deal. I would think that won't move fast at that price.Still, I shoulda axed for a pic to be sent. Who knows? It might be worth making an offer-less than the $450.

…action is low...lightweight, seems to be a great player...
If it was at a relatively nearby GC, I'd go take a look then talk to the luthier. But I don't think they'll ship it on spec. The guy said the shipping cost to a GC near me would be ~$18, but I assume that's in addition to the purchase price + tax.I don't know what a repair would cost, but you can offer anything. Be very careful with cyanoacrylate glues. Don't ask why I know that...Thanks! I might have a project one Saturday.

If this was a VP, I'd give it a serious look, but "If the frog had wings............."

Thank you!As a Stingray player I might be able to talk you down.
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT purchase a 3 band Stingray without comparing it side by side with a two band Ray. I was deeply saddened after having played a 1979 two band Stingray for years and then ordering a three band ray to use on a regular basis so I could avoid damaging my vintage preEB Ray. The three band was nothing like the two band. I could dial in the sound on the two band in seconds but the three band was a total PITA. Needless to say, I ended up selling the three band at quite a loss.
