Thunderbird Club

Yes! Yes, Kara should have it, because that color is awesome! :hyper:
Unfortunately, due to medical stuffs from right before Covid 19, and the aforementioned Covid 19, another thing Kara is short of is savings, and thusly also "disposable income" :crying:
No large purchases for a while, I'm afraid :(
Things will change for the better. What came out of the box? You know we cannot handle suspense around here. Is it the Suzi Quatro Thunderbird?

Yes, things are improving slowly. Back up to about 55-60 hours/week at work now :dead:

Suzi Quatro is not here yet, most unfortunately. :( Hoping it will be soon, but getting a small package from Copperopolis, CA (about a 2 hr drive) is going to be about 10 days by the time I get it :banghead: , so....:atoz:

As for what's in the box.....soon! I picked it up on the way to work, so only the teaser shot until I get home in the morning ;)

A bit 'off' on a central positioning of the side dots - but unless I'm seeing it wrong, it looks reasonable as far as the neck taper dyeing into the pocket. Most of the time that happens too soon - the taper of the neck in your pic looks more efficient.
Sorry I meant at the headstock. They got the contour of the back of the neck at the headstock but they didn’t quite take down rest of the neck to meet it.

The side dots being off is quite distracting.
It’s one of those really narrow necks - pretty common for the time/place.

The strings are literally rusty! When I saw that, I thought the electronics would have issues, but it all works. I’m going to see if the truss rod functions.

It’s surprisingly heavy - 9lbs 3oz

I did a bike road-race in Copperopolis - way out there for a Bay Area racer.

I have been watching it as long as it has been on Reverb. And when it was at the Bass Shop, as I recall. It should come home to the great north wet one day, somehow.

Or maybe Kara should have it. She is a little short of Thunderbirds.
But on the bright side, @KaraQ has quite the collection of large cardboard boxes!

SF is where that package finally showed up on tracking. Today. After going to Sonora first! :rollno:

Maybe, when I get home, I'll take a pic of my large box collection for you guys

My 2013's is rosewood.

The board on the 2013 I was talking about looks rosewood, too. How does your sound?

I don't believe Thunderbirds ever had one of those oddball fretboard materials. It was ebony until it was rosewood. Maybe there's room to negotiate the 2004 since there's no case. I don't think there will be much inherent sound difference between them, so it will come down to which one feels and plays better. My 2001 has some weird magic that I cannot define. The 1991 is close, with the 2015 close as well. But, the 2001 is just different somehow. One of the ones you are looking at may have the same kind of magic and make it an easy choice.

Unfortunately, they're a bit far one from the other
As you may remember, I had a new 2019 made one last year, but I sold it because I had the chance to step on a brand new Precision Am.Or.60 that I really liked. But the bird's tone is really nice, and, yeah...it's freakin' cool

Twins!:hyper:

...except the pickguards are different?

...and they sound completely different, which I am currently primarily attributing to the difference between flatwounds and roundwounds

Will get into doing a proper setup (and fixing that bridge!) later-ish...

Well congratulations! So weird about the pickguards. Do you know how different they are in age and if they're of different origins of manufacturing? Sorry to tell you that they weren't actually hatched.
