Thunderbird Club

c’est le petit trou avant- de le fuselage pour le essence..
Translation for the French impaired...
"See the little trout. His aunts body is poor and lacks life."

What that has to do with nose art beats me, but I bet Thunderbird art would look cool. Post pics of some cool or crazy painted up Tbirds...

Once upon a time this gem was in our Queens Royal Treasure Chest. It's not mine but it could be yours, now on Reverb...

LOL - it was a skill I acquired to entertain my daughter in grade school. Late at night we'd make some popcorn, turn on a cable movie, mute the sound and flip the captions to French, German or Hispanic and I'd "translate" for her while we watched the movie. Never knew where the story line was going but she'd be rolling on the floor laughing and having a ball. Just good silly fun. :D

It must have made a lasting impact on her. In high school she became fluent in Latin and in college she became very well versed in Russian. I on the other hand, can just get by with Americanized English and fair bit of Californian and Kentuckian. ;)

For standard Gibson production Post '88 Re-issue have had black plastic covers, however, I've be able to document at least 5 variations of pickups inside those plastic covers! There are some Custom Shop 'Birds that have been produced with metal covers in the Re-issue time frame.
Thanks for filling an ignorance gap! I have others. I can put you on retainer?!!

Of course! I can accept fine Lingerie as payment, and nylons - I love fine nylons!

I have been watching it as long as it has been on Reverb. And when it was at the Bass Shop, as I recall. It should come home to the great north wet one day, somehow.

Or maybe Kara should have it. She is a little short of Thunderbirds.

Yes! Yes, Kara should have it, because that color is awesome! :hyper:
Unfortunately, due to medical stuffs from right before Covid 19, and the aforementioned Covid 19, another thing Kara is short of is savings, and thusly also "disposable income" :crying:
No large purchases for a while, I'm afraid :(

B-25 Mitchell made by North American (who also made the P-51) in SoCal...rightly named after Billy Mitchell who went up against the Navy in proving battleships were made obsolete by aircraft carriers and getting court martialed for that .....pretty gnarly...

I'm well versed in that history. My father loved flying and although he didn't dwell on "the war" - he always loved everything B-25 and flying. I just ordered a couple books on the Burma Bridge Busters with hopes there will be a pic or mention of my dad.

From what I understand, B-25 pilots said "Huh?" a lot after spending so much time next those Wright powered props.

Check out the side marker spacing:

And it’s as if someone didn’t finish the neck carving. It’s hard to photograph, but see how the neck is thinner right before the heel?

A bit 'off' on a central positioning of the side dots - but unless I'm seeing it wrong, it looks reasonable as far as the neck taper dyeing into the pocket. Most of the time that happens too soon - the taper of the neck in your pic looks more efficient.

I don't recall my dad having hearing problems... especially when hearing Jim Morrison sing "This Is The End"... ;)
