Thunderbird Club

I like those Roadstar's a lot. A couple have turned up on Craigslist for really good prices and got snapped up before I could snag them. They are on my short list even tho I already have enough P or P-J loaded basses. Whats one more going to hurt?? ;)
My friend has one. It’s a decent P bass, kinda heavy. He’s never set it up or put new strings on it, but I could see it has potential.

Minor update on minimal progress to the GBP as I go off to bed. Working nights...:dead:
Hoping to get all of the current in-progress stuff done on my next set of "days" off:
1) Finish fitting nut & secure
B) Wiring
:nailbiting:) Pickup rings & covers

C, I see we number lists the same way.
7 - do you really need to label the holes V,V,T?
vi) the red strings look great. They add a splash of colour. (my white `bird has a black and white theme)

My friend lives in Lexington KY and haunts pawn shops in the general area (or anywhere he visits in the state). He has bought many guitars and amps for far less than the price tag by having cash in hand and having a rough idea of how long some of the items have been hanging there. He has done really well with old Fender amps because its not the kind of thing shops want to ship.
Like MCF says, they have very little into it so they have a LOT of wiggle room.
I disagree. If it has been hanging on the wall for years, they have a lot of carrying cost invested. And they may be looking to cut those mounting losses.

Making nice progress!
Something I forgot to mention when you set your bridge anchors, hopefully you also installed your grounding wire. As thorough as you are you probably already did that but just thought I'd mention it because it's something an anal fool like me once forgot to do.

My white baby has Blue DRs on her.

Ha! I saw the labels and thought, “she’s really doing it right.” Most guys would mix them up and spend time redoing it. Kinda like a “we don’t need no stinking maps” thing. I’m impressed by what she’s doing.

Yep. And it’s a tiny one. Common mistake people make when gluing inserts too.

Still means they want to move it on as the carrying cost just keeps mounting as it sits unsold.
I have a theory that increased shipping costs might lead to fewer listings on the bay and Reverb and more instruments finding their way into the hands of pawns again. I know a pawn I check every few months seems to have a lot more amps these days. And GC is probably in a good position with the ship to store thing. We’ll see.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I had a chance to dig into my VPro today and ... whoa. Seriously the best brand new mass-produced bass I have ever played, from any manufacturer, produced anywhere. Setup, fit and finish, electronics, and hardware are all top-notch. Sounds and plays amazing. And all for $700. Makes me smdh when I think about all the other mass-produced basses I have ever played. Why the heck can't Fender or GIBSON or even Music Man do this (to be fair, many of the US-made Music Man basses I have played in stores have been as good, but they cost almost 3x what a brand new V Pro sells for). This thing is a real banger.
Yep! They are fantastic and sound almost as good as 60s Thunderbird. (Have one of those too.) Worth more than they sell them for considering how great they sound.

Me too!

...and from the backseat - Are we there yet? I'm hungry. I gotta go to the bathroom. Are we there yet?

I bought one of the very early VP basses back about three years ago when they could be had new for about $600. At that time I yelled as loud as I could that this was quite possibly THE best new bass buy on the market under $1000. I still think that stands. It's a killer model in looks, quality, features, sound, feel, fit, finish and cost. IMHO you really need to currently look at spending $1000 plus dollars to find anything comparable in the new market.
Word!

That is an inexpensive fix that does not require refinishing in a cool colour. So what is the point of that? ;):D

Perhaps I should try that first (ignoring the Kat's advice to remove the electronics and burn then in a purifying ritual).
That is also my advice. And then remove the frets.
