With that SVT back there you might dent the door or peel the paint--or both!

Those AMX's are so cool. A friend of mine had a Javelin similar to this, only solid blue and a little lighter. I always thought he had the coolest car of anyone we knew or knew of.

*warning: Ibenez Pawn Shop Content*

I’ve been feeling guilty about neglecting my Ibenez Ergodyne (EDB 500 Cort made 2002 in Korea) that I bought at a pawn with a Gator case in 2016. $250. That was the average price at the time on Reverb without a case. I liked the case, so I took a flyer that the bass I was getting for $175 was decent. It was. But I never gelled with the tone. So I wasn’t playing it much and was going to list it on CL before the pandemic. Didn’t get around to it.

I put a set of @BklynKen ‘s SIT Power Steels on it a couple weeks ago. Today I dialed in the setup. And wow, what a difference. I’m keeping it.

There are deals to be had at pawns. There is the same bass on Reverb today for $400 + $50 shipping. Just sayin’. And it’s a better bass than most $400 basses.View attachment 3973142

I have always wanted to seriously try an Ibanez.

Ok I'll wade in with a question that has probably been asked somewhere in these 8000-odd pages, what's everyone's favourite v-v-t settings for playing rock based music? Having only jammed for a couple of hours with mine I found that having the tone and bridge pup on max and the neck backed off a bit to maybe 7 or 8 gave me what I was looking for. Especially when I went up the neck a bit (ok I don't get past 5th fret that often!), the drummer said it sounded like a bell ringing out (in a good way of you know what I mean) it really did cut through the mix.
Totally depends on the song. For a lot of 60s and early 70s rock, all bridge, tone off. Yes or Rush? Add bridge and turn tone up. Rarely do I run the bridge only, or even hottest, but when I want a p:ssed off piano, it works on the VP!

In 1979 I bought a mint super low mile 1973 AMX except in yellow. Looked like this one...

In 1982 my ex wife got it in the divorice (I got the VW Rabbit :rollno:).

Two weeks after the divorce she called me up at work to tell me she just got in an accident:banghead:. I asked her if she seriously hurt anyone, she said no:cautious:. I then asked her if the AMX was damaged, she said totaled:mad:. Then she said, aren't you going to ask if I'm ok, I said nope:cool:. And she promptly hung up.

A few days later I got a letter from her lawyer requesting that she get the Rabbit:bored:. I wrote across the letter "The Rabbit done died" and mailed it back to her:D. Never heard anymore about it again after that.:hyper:

Oh my. That's funny and sad all at the same time. Wonder if she ever got the song reference?

Ex-wives have a strange sense of entitlement. Mine thought I should help her move. And thought it strange that my answer was no without further explanation.

Just because someone has a sporty/fast car doesn't mean they know how to drive it.:rollno:

I didn't ask, but it certainly was a Sweet Emotion for me.

Spot on. My big mistake (besides marrying her) was we decided before the divorce decree who would get which car. So there was never any reference of automobiles in the divorce settlement, which she and her lawyer figured they could extract from me after the fact. Actually, they probably could have got away with it, but I suspect they took my note as either an indication that the VW was no longer running, or that I'd be defensive and put up a fight in court. The fact that she was cited with a DWI in the wreck didn't help their case much.

So I have to ask, sorry. Was it a German built or American built Rabbit?

It was a 1981 Rabbit S. Not sure where they were building them back then. Fun little car, very economical, could haul surprisingly large loads for its size, dead reliable. Traded it in on a new Chrysler Laser Turbo XE in 1984. Horrible car, had more vertical miles on it from the maintenance shop lift than it did horizontal miles from driving.
