Thunderbird Club

Stumbled on this while playing my Thunderbird this afternoon......Nope hope of me learning it, Pat Badger is great player, had to be across from Nuno Bettencourt.

Hmmmm. Listened and looked up tabs. A couple of tricky fills, but it doesn't seem that difficult. My challenge is that I don't count very well, but once I overcome that hurdle, it seems doable.

Well...a little bit of a setback on the red Vintage Pro..on the second to last shot of clear coat the holding screw on the rotation handle sheared off.I guess I’m lucky, the body hit a plastic milk carton first before hitting the ground. The lacquer was still soft from building coats over several days.Almost all of the damage was on the backside so recovery will be possible..Now I know that everyone will think that this is fake news but the headstock is fully intact..I checked the internet and found this to be the first documented free fall of a T-Bird from over three feet that the headstock did not pop off. :) this Bird was ready to fly before it’s time.
I’ll let it gas off for a week or so before I explore repair options.
I’ve used this rig on several neck through paint jobs in the past..I guess I just wore it out..I’m not really a pre relic guy..I’ll recover..View attachment 4128198View attachment 4128201View attachment 4128202View attachment 4128203
Cheers!
Ouch. I hope you can get the scuffs repaired. It looks great (@KaraQ will be jealous).

Just requires a little practice. Always keep the numbers in order: 1...2...3... Repeat. Then there is the more complicated version of 1...2...3...4...;):D

Seriously though, I don't count well either. In fact I hardly ever do. I play more by feel and what's in my head (which is not much), and count only when the I can't get the feel of a part. Most of what I play is not very complicated so counting doesn't happen much.

In rotation today.

Minor update - I dropped this off at the local small guitar shop shortly after posting the picture, and got it back yesterday. It plays much easier now that it's been set up and the razor edges of the frets along the neck are gone. Basically when I practice there will be more sweat and lots of tears, but not as much blood. :)
Congrats again Shannon! Fret sprout can happen and is easy to fix. Now play it loud!

One of a couple go-to basses in my band is my Teiscobird that has an Epi Goth T-bird neck. It is the baseball-bat variety and I love it. I'm lucky to like a number of neck profiles even as my preference is mostly based on my '64 T-bird.

note how the bevels comes to a peak - some leave a gap and have varying degree of angle of the bevel - I've installed quality Gotoh tuners and a Dunlop Drop-D since this pic.

Neck agnosticism is a healthy philosophy. It keeps so many doors open.

Wow, I thought I was stylin' with 50. I guess we can cover each coast here.
Yeah. I need 3, maybe 4. Buying 25+ plus shipping, tax, etc. seems kinda dumb so the nice, custom TRC I ordered for my backup EB-0 sits in its envelope. I'll prolly just go over to my neighborhood local hardware store, take one along, and get something that'll fit.

More than happy to send you some, but they're black.
