Thunderbird Club

Most often "coke" was what people used. I don't drink but maybe one "coke" a week if that. But I do like real creme soda. Not that horrible red junkie juice stuff that is also called creme soda. I believe Shasta Creme Soda was a light blue. Good stuff. I don't think there's such a thing any longer, not here anyway.
We used to call that red crud "red pop" I liked the blue or brown cream soda much better.

For a special treat, we would pour a small bag of Planters Peanuts into a bottle of RC Cola. Did other parts of the country do this? Hadn't thought of this in years. We also froze Reese's Peanut Butter Cups prior to eating them.
Didn't do peanuts with my RC Cola but I did do a moon pie quite often.

I can't remember how people referred to soft drinks when I lived in Kentucky (Late 78 thru mid 82) but I remember regional drinks like Ski and Double Cola. Growing up in Ohio everything was "Pop" to us. I remember when Barq's only seemed available down south when we would visit family and something I always looked forward to. Now I rarely drink any soda but I do have a strange fondness for blue creme soda.
Where abouts in KY did you live?

Here's another of Tom Peterson's basses, this is a '64 T-bird with a John Lennon graphic.

Copy on the "RC and Moom(sic) pie" Then there's A&W Root Beer and Vernor's ginger ale. And real Dr. Pepper(10/2/4).

I was never that fond of Dr Pepper, the RC, Moon Pies and Vernor's are all fantastic. I've yet to taste a better Ginger Ale. All go great with Thunderbirds. Just clean your sticky fingers first.

Real(50's-60's)Dr.Pepper was Syrupy in texture. Also had a bit of a kick in it. No idea what it was but I liked it. There's a place in Ft. Pierce, FL, that carries original formula[or close]soft drinks with real sugar. I know, not healthy, but a nice occasional 'treat'.

I have done both when I was younger.

Damn i've a lot to catch up on, been gone for way longer than i thought :D

however, in regards to soda, i've grown up where both soda & pop were used interchangeably (born in 94, so this must've been more early 00's for me). I enjoy cream soda (both real & junkie juice xp) however its the only soda that doesnt quench my thirst.

Probably why i stick to root beer. Not much a fan of coke/pepsi although i'll drink them once in a blue moon.

Hey Sasha!! Good to hear from you.

Small town called Edmonton. Home of The Kentucky Headhunters and Black Stone Cherry. Haven't been back there in forever. I think the nearest city was Glasgow and then Bowling Green.
Yes, those would be the nearest and definitely larger cities. Bowling Green larger due to Western Ky University and the GM plant where all Corvettes are made. It's a pretty area and not far from Nashville.

Yeah. That was weird. Your post was there. Then it wasn’t. Except in Plaid’s reply.

Eaten by the internet, like socks in a dryer o_O

Nothing important, picture-wise, just boxes :cautious:

With luck, this will work better! :nailbiting:

Progress! :smug:

I think it was around 2 hours to Nashville from Edmonton, at least back then. I'm sure there are better highways now so its quicker. My best friend from HS lives in Lexington and works for Toyota. The last time I was in KY was in 1992 for his wedding. I would like to go back to visit one day but it just hasn't worked out yet.
