Anything desert calls my name.Always liked that song. Cool video. Doesn’t inspire me to visit the place though...pretty much middle of freaking nowhere desert town. I prefer to drive through it without stopping.

It is. with the Subway Ultralight 4x10 cab to match with it.
I posted this on my FB yesterday, my fave piece by Robert Plant. The song and video fit together very well, love imagery (the Cotton Belt locomotive towards the end doesn't hurt!), feels hot, anybody else besides me?
I love his work with Allison Krause. My favorite work from Plant since LZ is with Allison Krause. That is some cool stuff. The live concert that's on occasionally where they discuss the project is great. His other post LZ work never held my attention. But I find their collaboration result very clever and interesting.
Yep. The DRZ400 is turning into a long distance enduro bike. I will be the perfect desert road trip vehicle. We need a desert road trip.
Still no Gibson/Epi news...
It's made of cheese!?Interesting, I'd actually like to see that, deserts are interesting places. I visited central Utah to take pictures of trains back in 1981 during the summer, it was hot as hell, I waited 45 minutes for the Rio Grande Zephyr to show up lucky we had plenty of water - that part of the country is like the surface of the moon.

She sounds like a real fun gal.I'm with you. Coke (of any kind) with any meal other than a hamburger or hotdog just ain't right. Wine, mixed drink, beer or water for me.
Born in SF lived mostly in SoCal, NorCal and Colorado growing up. We always called every soft drink a "Coke". Not sure where I picked that up, but my dad was from the Southern tip of Illinois so that might be the cause.
LOL - my first wife was from the Cincinnati area, we met in San Jose and started dating there. The first time I brought her home to meet my parents I asked her if she wanted a glass of milk with dinner. Her response was "Please". So I poured her a glass of milk. As I placed it in front of her she looked at me and said, "I don't want any milk thanks". Mom, dad and I all looked puzzled at each other. I barely knew her, but now I was wondering if she had some kind of multiple personality disorder.
Turns out there's a very small swath of Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati that uses the response "Please" if they didn't clearly hear the question. Its short for saying "could you please repeat that".
Of course my response to her refusal of the milk was, "would you like a Coke". Again, she said, "Please". So I asked her what kind. She looked at me like I was crazy and in a frustrated voice she said "Coke". So I got her a Pepsi and set it on the table. She promptly said, "I don't want that". By now I was just about certain she was schizophrenic. So I didn't ask any more questions and just gave her a glass of water.
Fast forward about five years later when we divorced. Turns out she was in fact diagnosed as a schizophrenic manic depressive. Although that had nothing to do with our Communication Breakdown at the dinner table. Real roller coaster of a marriage!
Love that tune. Plant put out a few great songs after LZ.

I think he said 4x10. Which is very popular and usually sounds quite nice but is probably my least favorite cab configuration from an ergonomics standpoint. I would think a 4x8 would be a bit more back friendly than a 4x10 but I've never tried one. I have seen a lot of great comments on the Mesa amp though.Congratulations! I hope it is outstanding in all ways.
Vertical 4x8 or the usual back killer box? It makes a huge difference! Not to be an ******* or anything. I would rather move almost anything except a 4x8 box. Somebody makes or made a 4x8 that was not side by side and not vertical, but was about halfway in between. That looked like it might be a good alternative to the usual configuration.
Yeah, a laugh a minute. (Not!)She sounds like a real fun gal.![]()
I’ll meet up with you guys on the west side after you’ve had your desert “trip.”We need a desert road trip.

Imagine That!!I don't see the red Bird you built. Did that fly the coop?
Epiphone is notorious for posting incorrect product specs.
I'm sorry if I'm not the first who mentions this but here's one of the very first basses that Hamer made for Tom Peterson of Cheap trick.
The first Hamer Standard Bass, Custom Built for Tom Petersson 1974 Green Sunburst | Martian Record Corp | Reverb
Paul Hamer and Jol Dantzig used Thunderbird parts in the creation of this beast, they must have because there were no replacement parts made by third parties in those days.

Is this what a Thunderbird pickup looks like with its cover removed?

That Headstock is an accident waiting to happen and it looks like that accident happened at least once.

Doesn't appear to have a neck through body construction...
But hey, this bass is way cool!
Thanks. Nah. The back killer 4x10. It’s likely to stay put most of the time. It’s only 55 lbs, but I know the shape isn’t ideal. I hemmed and hawed, 2x12 (which made the most sense) or 2x15, but finally decided to just get it. I loved how it sounded with a WD at the shop some time back when they first came out and just decided to do it. I can always add something a bit smaller if I want/need to.Congratulations! I hope it is outstanding in all ways.
