Crikey! Beautiful bass. Is that bridge pup the same one that Fender uses on their dimension basses?

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

yeah mate, I believe it is......but so as not to derail....THUNDERBIRDS!!!!

it is...15 year old sophomore in 1979. paid 250 bucks for that 70 P with ohsc, ashtrays etc....hated the tort and the covers so yanked everything off and slapped a DiMarzio P (with the splitter switch, was going after a 4001 sound) and that white pg...great sounding bass...
:thumbsup:LOL - love the "back in the day" pics! But I'm starting to feel old now. By 1979 I had already graduated from high school in San Jose, was going to college part time at San Jose State, had been married for a year, had one kid and another one on the way, and was working full time at General Electric Company designing Nuclear Power plants. I didn't pick up the bass until the mid 1990's.

Who'd a thunk. Our Queen in super bells and platform boots, playing a Ric and copping a Leon Redbone look.

Feels better how?[/QUOTE. There just seems to be more of everything and the strings feel more responsive. Like if you plug directly into a mixer with a passive bass and it feels sluggish but, then use a di and everything livens up and feels better. That’s actually what is happening. Loading.

I was the most awkward teen ever, that Ric was my first "good" bass, the pic is from '77 or '78 so I'm out of H.S. playing music was the one thing that got me out and socializing and drinking etc.

Perfect! Count me in.

Beautiful Ray! Looks like one of the Pearl finishes.
The Stingray 5 string is a great bass. If you end up liking it you'll need to treat yourself to a 2 band 4 string Stingray, well worth the cost of admission. The two are kind of the Jazz and P bass of the Leo Humbucker world.

And since it's Stingray Sunday, I'll flash my pair. An all original 1978 "Darth Vader" PreErnie Ball StingRay with a very rare highly figured Maple neck, and a 2005ish SR5 single buck in Egyptian Smoke Silver (looks kind of olive drab) with a python pickguard...

I like that silver, especially w/the matching headstock!

Mine is the pearl (white) finish; I've not been able to capture it well in pics thus far :(

Liking it so far, especially with the neck pickup solo'd (quite different from my SR 5-string). Feels like it's probably my heaviest bass though :wideyed:

....Thunderbird! :smug:

Looking great! How's the Damnation MBD working out for you?

I liked what I was hearing in the time I have been able to spend with it. Been so busy with the move that I haven't been able to truly test it. I should be able to spend more quality time with it soon.

Can I throw in a suggestion for Stingray Sunday, for consideration? ;)

My old SR. Never really clicked with it. Really liked the SR 5er though. Oddly the finish bubbled up on the SR in the pic. Talked to EB and pointed out it was clearly a finish problem. Said they couldn't do anything as it was out of warranty by a couple years I think. Wanted to sell me a body at a crazy price--and I had to return the old one! Finally convinced them that this issue was something in manufacturing after going up the food chain. They knocked a couple hundred off the replacement body. Still had to send the body back. I wanted to tell them I would gladly sell it to them. I knew I was going to sell it so I was nice and didn't make any more waves.

I was playing at a wedding once for a Dr's daughter. Big outside to-do. The wedding party was sitting at long table in front of the stage, maybe 30 or so. We were playing and something happened (funny maybe) and the bride flipped over backwards just like this clip. She went back and all I saw was wedding dress then two legs sticking up in the air. I was trying not to laugh, but it was difficult. You just can't take high society people any place!

what year is that? model? love that maple neck (wanna trade necks?) how do you like the J pup at the bridge? great pics BTW..
this is my 2010 which I traded for an EB three knob SG....best trade I ever made...absolutely LOVE this P..

It's a '99. Nope! :D Sure don't, this thing is righteous all the way. I like the J PU but generally use it more when playing with a pick for some reason and dial it in about 80%. By itself it doesn't do anything for me, but none ever do so that isn't a knock on it. The PUs are fantastic. Big but really punchy in the right places. It can be really bright. I've always like GHS Pressurewounds on it.

Your Pbass looks great. I've always wanted one of those, but never came together.
