Thunderbird Club

Snowed in today. So might as well rock it.
The messy cord action is for @PillO

Thanks! It really is. The pick guard is not tort (thank heavens!) but has some flecks of orange that really make the think pop. I've gotten more complements from it as anything I've ever owned. This pick still doesn't capture it well.

An old pic of my wife playing it.

Awesome! I might take some pictures for Warmoth Wednesday :)
Perfect! Count me in.

Can I throw in a suggestion for Stingray Sunday, for consideration? ;)

:smug:
Beautiful Ray! Looks like one of the Pearl finishes.
The Stingray 5 string is a great bass. If you end up liking it you'll need to treat yourself to a 2 band 4 string Stingray, well worth the cost of admission. The two are kind of the Jazz and P bass of the Leo Humbucker world.

And since it's Stingray Sunday, I'll flash my pair. An all original 1978 "Darth Vader" PreErnie Ball StingRay with a very rare highly figured Maple neck, and a 2005ish SR5 single buck in Egyptian Smoke Silver (looks kind of olive drab) with a python pickguard...

Yes! How's he liking it?

He likes it a lot, but it's turned into some kind of habit (he's just a beginner!) as he now has four (4) guitars!
Here's his Gretsch and HLK Spyder

it is...15 year old sophomore in 1979. paid 250 bucks for that 70 P with ohsc, ashtrays etc....hated the tort and the covers so yanked everything off and slapped a DiMarzio P (with the splitter switch, was going after a 4001 sound) and that white pg...great sounding bass...
Cool bass! I was a junior at UCI that year. Time flies.

At first I missed the guitars completely and thought you posted the wrong pic. Was going to say Gretsch made a great Thunderbird clone and you make a great Spyder!

Crikey! Beautiful bass. Is that bridge pup the same one that Fender uses on their dimension basses?
