Thunderbird Club

We can see it better in the pic with Ms Dagrev, really complements that magnificient bass.
Always nice to see the real people behind the avatars :)
Ha! Thanks. I'd likely lose a bass or some teeth if she knew of posted that. I spared everyone of a pic with me. I'm better heard than seen.;) I have to admit she looks young there. The old girl is 55 now and that might have been 5-7 yrs ago.

If it's any help. We have the same pillow on our upstairs sofa. Small world.

A horrible old pic from about 1984. Playing my favorite Pbass with an A neck and and a few upgrades. It was stolen years later. I had hair then and it was getting short.

Details on the triple pickup Bird please! Links to a demo anywhere?

It's a Gibson Custom shop bass from the collection of Uwe Hornung (Gibson Bass Book) IIRC it's from the '90s, there were very few made. I'm not aware of any sound clips

It's about time! :)

Looking good there!

Well, we has ourselves another gig tomorrow. Local eclectic restaurant in Hobe Sound, FL. 9AM! to 12. Little bit of light jazz, R&R, brunch music(whatever that is),and ?. 67 NR TBIRD>Rumble 100. Been using a POS phaser lately just for the halibut. Anything I hafta sing will prolly sound like a croaking toad. I expect to wake up somewhere around the middle of the 2nd set.
Oh. And crappy pay. Why do I do it? You ask. What? And give up "Show Biz"?

Now that's what I call an early bird special.

Ok... life has gotten weird and I'm not around here much. That'll change, but tonight I plugged my Epi CP into the Peavey T-Max I'd been trying to sell. It's not for sale now. Good God, that Peavey T-Max 115 combo is a monster, esp with my little Birdie. I am utterly won over. I haven't been very good about playing lately, my recording project is a little stalled *because of me*, too much weird and it's gotten into my head. But this little reunion has chased a good deal of the fog out. What a cool wake-up. What a combination, the THUNDERBIRD Classic Pro and this old (in like-new shape) Peavey amp. They were surely made for each other.

I was psyched to make a sound that I actually enjoyed hearing... been a while. I can't wait to roll it onto some sticky, funky club stage and turn the little monster loose. Looking for a proper extension cab next. This thing does my 'Bird justice. That's what ahm talkin' about.

So, I’ve been getting to know my new epi cp. I’ve noticed that it is much darker sounding than the bolt on bird I built. I got doing some research and found than many birds use 250k volume pots. Too low for my tastes. Rather than solder in some new 500k’s I wired both pups direct to the jack. The volume and clarity improved. I plan to remove the current electronics and install a kill switch. I only ever use both pups, on all the way so, why have all those knobs in the way?

Thanks! It really is. The pick guard is not tort (thank heavens!) but has some flecks of orange that really make the think pop. I've gotten more complements from it as anything I've ever owned. This pick still doesn't capture it well.

An old pic of my wife playing it.

Have you ever tried wiring the pickups in series instead of parallel? While you have it open maybe put in a series parallel switch.

I really like series on a Thunderbird. I’m saying series a lot, lol.
