Thunderbird Club

Chick Corea was the single greatest improvisational musician I have ever played with,” John Mayer, who had appeared with Corea onstage, wrote on Instagram. “Nobody was more open, more finely tuned to the moment, changing his approach with every new offering by the musicians around him. If you hit a wrong note, he’d immediately pick it up and play it as a motif so as to say ‘all of this has value, whether you see it or not.
I have had the good fortune to play with musicians that will weave my mistakes into the music. Which made me seem like I had some idea what I was doing playing jazz:D

OK. I had a blueline SVT but so long ago(sold it ~1985)I don't remember any of the settings I used-'cept 'ultra lo' on.

The 'boom' switch. On my '76 B15N (live) I have 'ultra lo' off, 'ultra hi' on, bass nearly full up, treble at noon, and volume around 10:00. The late '60s JBL I installed in it is very dark chocolaty and I like a mid-centric bass tone/basses so you put that all together and I'm in heaven! :bassist:

My latest completed project - a late '60s Coral piezo 24 'fret'/fretless short-scale hollow-body longhorn. For this bass I have yet to try it live or at rehearsal so I don't know how it will need to be set (at the amp). Being a thin-bodied hb it requires a bit more bass. Japanese Hollowbody Longhorn bass project and Harmony H-19 guitar resurrection

Fantastic! We're still getting 70 and above only here. You sure don't look 70!:D

Hopefully it will be available to younger and younger people soon. I got my shot downtown SF at the Moscone Convention Center. (huge) I was early but went right through with no waiting, no real 'crowd' of people - just a study flow in & out. Very well managed. There could have been a lot more people and it still would have been a smooth operation. At this point it's just getting enough vaccine to the centers I suppose.

what a fantastic shot.

you guys are too cool. happy to help any way I can. playing a gig on Sunday and off on Monday...whatever works Marshall..
We’re pretty much staying sheltered. I should be coming up for my turn with the vaccine next month I hope. No hurry, but I would appreciate your expertise to get them in shape. They’re both decent sounding amps when they’re healthy. And the Carvin was free, so It’s worth some investment to see if it can be made right (compressor won’t turn off).

I must say, I'm rather surprised I haven't seen more Epi VPs in the classifieds or used on various websites. I'm keeping an eye out for white one since Sweetwater says they won't be back in stock until sometime in March, and haven't seen any land in classifieds and few on other sites like Reverb (or if they do, they almost the same price as a new one so might as well wait). I understand people liking them and keeping them, but given the price I would have figured more people would have bought them to try out and figured they just weren't for them, but I guess I'm wrong!

I doubt that yer wrong about that. At not quite 1/2 the price of the new NR, I suspect the VP hurts NR sales, too.

The tone wins most everyone over.

That was a strong contender in my search for a new amp. I’m happy with the Mesa tt800, but the forte and a Berg cab wwere strong contenders. They’re great.
There is no doubt that you would be happy with the TT800 and your new cab..at least you can move it by your self. Here’s your new rigs grandfather.

I'm always on the lookout for my next one. Ebay at times has white ones with broken necks.Even those go for about $300. My last one that I acquired to paint a different color was a trade through FB marketplace.
You are correct that the used market seems to have dried up for the Vintage Pro.

SW has an ebony 'demo' for $629. Just sayin'.
SW's known for standing behind their sales. 'Course we all stand behind our basses. Otherwise we couldn't play 'em.
On another note(Db),gigs tonight and tomorrow night.:bassist::hyper:sort of

I've had my eye on the one on eBay for $280 with the tweaked neck, but after repair and buying all the hardware I'll just get a new one. Thought about turning it into a II, but still a lot of work and money for the parts.
