Thunderbird Club

Here's a nice Thunderbird Thursday video. It's on the Firebird, but there's a good amount of Thunderbird content. Also probably the best explanation yet of why the II has one pickup and the IV has two.

Great post. Even Old Black (greatest LP in the world) with the Firebird PUP gets a mention! And my PB ‘13 NR Thunderbird!

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone well. I thought I would post a family picture. Tired of winter, and working from home. I suspect this causing a longing for a new bass. I am literally glad the G3 is gone from GCs website. Find myself studying pictures of the NR birds, and intrigued by the discussion on what the necks might be like. I have to admit to wondering what the Flying V that was mentioned in relation to Simmons might be like. Silly I know, but these are my thoughts. Perhaps I have been cooped up too long.
Stay well everyone. Go Zags.
Cool pic. And remember, according to a reliable source, the new NR will have vintage wound PUPs!

Beautiful weather here in SoCal. Finished a good round of golf earlier (ended up 3 over par) on a lovely private course nestled in the hills near Solvang. Short sleeve shirt weather here today. When I got home I fired up the Greco and threw on a BTO Not Fragile CD. Great bass, great Disc.

Thunderbird Thursday pic with most of the clan...

+3? Pretty solid. I’d be +23 (or a lot more). Haven’t played Alisal since I was a kid. I’m a lousy golfer.

I was out in my storage area looking through my record collection with my son and found autographed copy of Waysted Save Your Prayers. Pete and the band came through town in early '86 for a show at the Rochester War Memorial. Prior to the show they did a instore at the House of Guitars. We spent the afternoon talking gear and swapping stories, Pete invited us all to the show, it was a great time we arrived early and left late. Pete and the band were a lot of fun. R.I.P. Pete.

Glad to hear you are going ok.

it is funny I always imagine Texas as being a hot place. My brain is struggling with all the cold you are having at the moment.

Having flown through DFW in winter a few times, snow is not out of place in Texas. Texas is a big place with a variety of climates.

We get at least a little of everything now and then, but this is definitely off the chain for most of Texas, especially the length AND severity.

Not to diminish the suffering. As I understand it, the cold is the problem. It is colder and in areas much further south than usual. This caused a cascade of failures.

It's not the cold in Dallas, even though it has gotten to single digits and remained there. It is no power for multiple hours and even days all across Texas. So far over 30 people have died due to it. And many more deaths are expected, once they can be discovered. My brother in Dallas was sleeping in his bedroom which was in low 40s inside. He is in his late 60s and has a heart condition. No power, no heat, no cooking for 2 days. Remember probably 75% of all homes, condos, and apartments are all electric in Texas.

Also no water, since all the pipes are breaking. My keys player in Lumberton, TX right out side of Beaumont, had pipes in walls and ceiling break while he was working nights. Water ran into his home for over 10 hrs. Ruining ceilings and walls and lots of other things. Some folks had temperatures inside there homes drop to below freezing for hours, some even days. Lots of folks are having real hard times in Texas.

And even though there were places opened for people to come to get warm and food, no one could get there since all the roads were closed and iced over.

Its getting better over the weekend and is supposed to warm up. My brother got power yesterday. Yep we are all saying prayers for a lot of folks down here in Texas.

I was thinking how we wold get through something like that. Fortunately we’re pretty well prepared for a major quake with at least about three weeks of food. We also have lots of warm ski gear and 0 degree rated down sleeping bags. Something to think about in this world of unpredictable weather.
