Thunderbird Club

I play the Alisal Ranch course (As opposed to the River course) about once a month with one of my golf buddies who is a member there. Beautiful course' not incredibly hard like Pebble Beach or Spy Glass but some tricky greens. I'm normally around +10 on the course, with the exception of one hole where everything that could have gone wrong did, I had a very good round. I've worked my wife into playing golf also, she's probably more addicted than I am. The down side, Golf can be an incredibly expensive and time consuming sport to play. The one outing for the two of us ran well north of $300 for just greens fees and food (not including equipment, consumables, transportation, lessons...).

I figure I could probably buy a spanking new Gibson Thunderbird every month with what I spend on golf. Gibson will be swimming in money if I ever give up the sport. ;)

Very Cool!
I love music related memorabilia. When I finished the basement of my last house off i did it in a Hard Rock Cafe type theme and had these hanging on the walls...

I wanted to get some signed LPs and CDs up as well but my collection is lacking in that area. I also want to get an autographed Thunderbird in the mix.

Where I've been living for the last 10 years doesn't have anywhere to display anything like this so I figured my next house will be where it all goes back on display. Unfortunately, we've lost so many great performers in just the last 10 years, I wish I hadn't put it off.

So true, so unfortunate, and so unnecessary.

Or said another way, the power generation choices made by those responsible, completely failed to take into account the potential impact of a once in a hundred year winter storm (something normally done for flood planning). Too many eggs were in one basket and the basket was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lives have been lost, homes destroyed and dollars wasted all with some folks already at their most vulnerable from a financial or health standpoint because of COVID impacts. I have close friends and family in this mess and they're barely hanging on.

As I said before, so unfortunate and so unnecessary. I'm sure this is unrealistic, but I really hope the right people take note of what's happened and take steps to keep it from happening again.
Nice guitars! I watched a Youbube video of Mike Campbell taking about a few of his favorite guitars and one was a white Firebird that seemed to be signed by Johnny Winter. He found it at a pawn shop a few years ago. The shops around here have nothing but $200 junk for $300. I've yet to find anything of any value or interest since the early 80s. Even thing is was high priced.

That Canon camera of Dads? Well it is actually a Pentax P30 (P3 in USA) from about 1985 ish. Not worth anything above sentiment and any utility it may still have.
Still it looks nice and feels nice and solid in hand. A few extra bits and bibs with it. So I’ll see were it takes me and if any local film sellers/developers I’ll give it a crack. I’ll probably hand it down to my daughter who is interested in photography.
The 1950s Leica is nowhere to be seen.

Irony taking a photo of this gear on my phone?

That’s a nice bit of kit.

That's a nice set up. I always liked Pentax gear. In high school I wanted a Pentax ME. I ended up with my Dad's Nikon FE and a second that I picked up used. But I did get a medium format Pentax.

Rooting around old pictures came up with this one. This is the Dano/Coral, which is the closest I'll ever get to a NR, most likely. I don't miss it much. And I don't miss the 1980 porno moustache either. There was beer and a girl involved in shaving it off.

Back when I was in art college in the early '70s, a Pentax was a good camera to own. A couple of the rich kids had Lica's, Hasselblads and Nikons - but a Pentax (or Canon) got the job done.
