I cut my teeth playing in front of an audience in a Chicago Blues band with Mississippi Delta born Eddie Taylor (Jimmy Reeds sideman) and his sons Larry and then Timmy on drums from '79-'85. We were sort of a blk&wht band in the mode of Britain's The Specials, Madness, Selector etc - a mixed race, old and young band. (at least for the Specials) Ever since then I have been ultra critical of "white-boy blues. (being white myself and yet having a fuller awareness of ) Or let me put it this way... not everyone should "sing the blues" TM And not to say that every human on earth doesn't need to sing the blues at one time or another... but what's going on in Blues is the feel and connection. In a way more than any other genre of music. Heartfelt blues is awesome - generic 'blue's' is at least boring and at worse awful.
real blues - listen to the bass ... he's 150% on it.
