Thunderbird Club

It's not even a contest sound wise, Greco leave the VP in the distant dust, that pick up, especially a II is beyond monstrous, so much more depth, bass, mids and highs, the inherent growly RAWR is simply amazing. That Greco is without doubt a greatly under appreciated, unknown Thunderbird, as I've said before, it's a Sonic Destroyer of entire planets! As far as the rest of the bass goes they're slightly different since the Greco is a set neck vs the VP's neck thru, the quality there is about equal, I like the VP's hardware better, Greco's seem to tarnish and I've seen plenty that appear very heavily pitted.
If I were to have to choose one over the other, the Greco wins every time, that bass just kills....

Would you remind me, pretty please, what pickup the Grecos use?

No. It's right side up to *you*, as it should have been from the beginning.
Ah,you have a point. Also, TT.

Playing live, I will sometimes set up with volume on the bass at about 8 so I can add a little more volume when needed on the fly. It’s good to be able to see if I have that room or not.

When recording, I will sometimes make note of settings so I can replicate a tone if I change part of a track.

That's why I got a volume pedal (Morley 20/20 optical). I set up with the bass as I want it and the pedal backed off just a bit. That way I have extra headroom if I need it.

I did the same, just with a Morley.
Hooked up through the effects loop, so it affects speaker volume only :)

Doh! Mine is a Morley 20/20, not an EB (fixed that comment). I've wanted a Morley pedal since I first saw their logo, a few hundred years ago. It's built like a tank, and works great. Plus it's GREEN and has glow in the dark stuff. My kinda bling.

Mine is the last thing in the chain before the DI.

We all know I'm a freak. I love my CP better than the VP. Although I am way overdue to try EBCFs on the VP again. I like the Rotos, but I just don't need Fullbore Angry Piano that often.
Maybe try the NP Rotos. I have a set on the burst and they sound great. Punch and some bite but not angry piano, which is cool but not my thing. Boomers! That may be the best sounding for my purposes on a VP if I only had one option.
