Thunderbird Club

Though there was a small variation in measured output against the nominated, and each other, to assist with the placement ?
I think I remember that.

Yes that is right, they measured higher than 9.2K and a little different to each other. The slightly hotter one (9.58K) was put in the bridge. The neck one is 9.52K.
The TB+s I took out were both 9.7K

You could always swap the remaining hardware to chrome...

Tbird ProIV doesn't have the 3 point bridge therefore probably not that easy.

Definitely want to ditch the active electronics, therefore realistic options are Chinabuckers (covered wif black gaffa tape) or Duncan SSB4s. They're about the same price but the Duncans would require less woodwork to fit. The Chinabuckers should be hotter than the 'moderate' output SSB4s.

On the contrary...

Finding a chrome 4 or 5 string hi-mass bridge for a Pro-IV or Pro-V would be WAY easier to find than a chrome 3-point bridge and also much much cheaper than the 3-point alternatives (Hipshot & Babicz).

Chrome three point bridges are very common on Flea Bay and usually around $25 bucks US. I have a guy pretty close to me that usually has some.

Yes and that's why I wanted one in the neck position. I needed to raise the 9.2K one in the bridge position pretty high to get balance between the pickups.
I put the more aggressive one in the neck position and the weaker one down by the bridge. I like a thumpier sound, so I use the bridge pickup as a balancer more than anything else. The bass that has those pickups in it also wears Cobalt flats, which are plenty bright for flats, but they are still flats. I'm not sure what it would sound like with Chromes or some other strings that are darker sounding than Chromes. If it had those strings, the pickups might need to be swapped.
