Thunderbird Club

Yeah, purchased trim rings with the pups. Don't have tools ... they make my husband feel inadequate(!)

Eeerrmmm..... usually it's something else that makes us feel inadequete

In all seriousness it can be done with hand tools.

I saw a picture on this thread from from time ago that showed how much needed removing, it was only a small amount, about the thickness of the lacquer all round. That could be removed with a dremel quickly if you have one or even course sand paper with a bit of patience. Either way you should be able to get the job done without outside assistance

So, swapping out a rackmount bass pre for a Schecter Omen Extreme 4-string after work today. I figure it's a nice, presentable, "wedding band bass" to have handy, and it'll be a good reggae bass as well, might as well invest in my fegularr gig.
(Waits quietly for threats of flogging and Greco bird offers...)

Hopefully the Blackbird will have a nice pair of volume pots this weekend. Found some cool black brass stealth-like knobs for it.

maybe I'll really grab a cheap ass bolt on bird instead of a classic pro as a second one later... and just fill the rear pickup cavity, I never understood Bridge pickups :-D
Can't you just turn the volume knob on it down?

On my Rickenbackers I mainly use the bridge pickup, by itself. On my T-bird I mainly use the two pickups in series.

nope, i hate it when there are unnecessary things on my instruments.

I even have a 2013 nonreverse with a pair of thunderbucker Ranch pickups and it drives me mad that I don't use that shagin 250 bucks Bridge pickup :-D
Wire them in series. It's a monstrous tone and the bridge pickup won't be unnecessary anymore.

Honestly for me the pickup that matters more is the bridge one. Though really I wish the T-bird's pickups were about one pickup-width closer to the neck.

I know the feeling! :woot:

but on the bright side, I was a cabinet maker for most of my working life, some advice on hand tools and their misuse is available if it's any help to anyone
I have been a professional knuckle dragger of various kinds over the years, especially when the economy is down and nobody wants to pay me to sit at a desk. We should compare notes. You probably have clever ways to misuse and abuse tools that I haven't thought of, and vice versa. It's always good to learn new tricks!

Indeed, I have many ways to apply fresh warm blood to hand and machine tools. In fact the furniture I made was often so blood stained I had to sell them off as period pieces :roflmao:

I'll go now
