I assume I probably need pickup rings for thunderbuckers?
It's cosmetic, but yes.

I assume I probably need pickup rings for thunderbuckers?
Where do I get them? It's cosmetic, but yes.
Where do I get them?
Oh. Derp. I feel dumb.If you got Thunderbuckers I'd go to the website he should have them listed.
They may not, they're quite shallow. Also you may want some trim rings, they'll cover the edges of the pup routs. Not a big job, really.
Yeah, purchased trim rings with the pups. Don't have tools ... they make my husband feel inadequate(!)
I saw a picture on this thread from from time ago that showed how much needed removing, it was only a small amount, about the thickness of the lacquer all round. That could be removed with a dremel quickly if you have one or even course sand paper with a bit of patience. Either way you should be able to get the job done without outside assistanceEeerrmmm..... usually it's something else that makes us feel inadequete
In all seriousness it can be done with hand tools.
Can't you just turn the volume knob on it down?maybe I'll really grab a cheap ass bolt on bird instead of a classic pro as a second one later... and just fill the rear pickup cavity, I never understood Bridge pickups :-D
Can't you just turn the volume knob on it down?
Wire them in series. It's a monstrous tone and the bridge pickup won't be unnecessary anymore.nope, i hate it when there are unnecessary things on my instruments.
I even have a 2013 nonreverse with a pair of thunderbucker Ranch pickups and it drives me mad that I don't use that shagin 250 bucks Bridge pickup :-D
Hand tools? Now we are getting into real inadequacy territory. Oh, the horror! In all seriousness it can be done with hand tools.
I know the feeling!Hand tools? Now we are getting into real inadequacy territory. Oh, the horror!

I have been a professional knuckle dragger of various kinds over the years, especially when the economy is down and nobody wants to pay me to sit at a desk. We should compare notes. You probably have clever ways to misuse and abuse tools that I haven't thought of, and vice versa. It's always good to learn new tricks!I know the feeling!
but on the bright side, I was a cabinet maker for most of my working life, some advice on hand tools and their misuse is available if it's any help to anyone
Indeed, I have many ways to apply fresh warm blood to hand and machine tools. In fact the furniture I made was often so blood stained I had to sell them off as period piecesI have been a professional knuckle dragger of various kinds over the years, especially when the economy is down and nobody wants to pay me to sit at a desk.
