Thunderbird Club

I like it enough to keep it, despite it's size and 12v 600mA requirement. It complicated my new pedalboard a little as I had to run a wall wart in addition to my Onespot CS7. But the tone is worth it, and it tames the Thunderbird/new string/heavy handed hard Rock clack which can be very obvious in a 3 piece band. The tube is actually used in the compression, and IMO, in the tone circuit. Life would have been easier without it for sure.

It was my first choice but they had quit making it and the used market was sparse and pricey at the time.

not to beat the Greco story to the ground but to just say an instrument sounds great with no real proof is kinda subjective so, I figured an A/B test could be a little more conclusive perhaps?.....active (18V preamp) 2010 Precision Deluxe (first track)

goes up against an 89(?) Greco IV.....

Amp setup UNTOUCHED for both......no contest....

Yup.

On our Sunday morning gig, I used the LPB2/5. Hadn't played it out for quite awhile. A different kind of fun being active. Nothing else booked 'til the 29th by which time I'll have the NR back in my hands again. Missing the hell outta it. The Les Paul 5er sounded great once I got the amp EQ'ed in, but it ain't no TBird.

Cool! I notice more and more when I take a non-Thunderbird, I'm generally thinking why I didn't.

On the Thunderbird you play in front of the neck PU like Leon!

Never been out West, so I was fascinated by the plants behind you. Nothing like that around here.

Indirectly on topic: When things are slow on TB, I listen to a coupla Reddit stories on YT. There's one 'channel'(Red Wheel)where a guy reads these stories and at least sounds live. A recent one had as the protagonist a man at a bookstore returning 3 copies of "Geddy Lee's Big Book Of Bass". Pronounced three different times as 'bass'-the fish. Aaaaarrrggh! Not only do the players get no respect, neither does the instrument.:rollno:

Well, in his defense... English does suck in this regard.

I go to Mass and it isn't pronounced mace.

That being said, why is base not spelled bace?

Having learned a little bit of both Spanish and Japanese, I see why people of other countries have a lotta trouble leaning English.

Hello Dagrev, thank you for the good advice about these new flats. I have read a few reviews that make the "spaghetti noodle " comparison. I don't believe I play with a very heavy attack so am hoping feel is not an issue. I will definitely reserve judgment for a month or so to give them time to settle in. I am hoping they work for me, and I can literally keep them on for years. Still debating between the Bird and the 335. I have liked the EB Cobalt flats on the bird, but might like these even better. The 335 has the same rounds it was wearing when I bought it. Either way, I appreciate the advice, and will post again once I give them a try. Thanks much. Take care.
Is the 335 long scale?

Thanks Donnie, as you tell us west coasters...”the door is always open”!....your are right about the flora out here...I’m originally from Newport RI (coincidentally Leon’s birthplace ) and that’s what got my attention when I first moved here in 90...the smell of seawater and eucalyptus together is unique to this northern CA area...

I had to learn Greek and Hebrew, while each have their own exceptions, oddities and loan words, English is flat out a mess. You would think Timothy Leary invented it on a long weekend. Why so many words that mean the same thing (other than "sophisticated" people get to start new trends and sound impressive)? Old languages have some, but generally there's a reason and often a slight variation. And why spell so many words the same that don't mean the same thing (as pointed out)? Why not better to have uses some of the countless redundant words? But I digress, or is it deviate or.....?
