Overend's bass, I know it's in loving hands........ but.

While I doubt the bass in question is an actual '76 as Fly Guitars notes none were made that year, I don't know how to read that 6 digit code ( some had 8 digit codes) I do know that it's 1 of only 136 white Birds made 76-79, rare enough. Some '60s basses have higher numbers.

Took me second glance too. Oddly enough, the guitar made me realize that was Adrian Smith and then went "Steve Harris playing a Bird !"

White is the most rare, but the serial # is really odd. Makes me wonder if it was a later custom order or possibly refin.

There were no official white Thunderbirds in '76, which adds to the weirdness of mine which has a '76 serial number.

Edit: I kept reading and see the number has been mentioned from Fly.

The thing is, the pickup in that bass is so hot that just to record the clip I have to engage the - 10db pad on the amp, it other wise is just too loud for a home recording. As worth knowing is that this was done with an iphone and while not bad, it's certainly not the best way to record a bass guitar, this is further compounded by Youtube's compression of the whole sound file.

I love that song! I should have stood up to play the demo though, I think I'm lagging a little and it needs a bit more ferocity on the application of the pick to the strings.
