Thunderbird Club

Getting back to Thunderbirds...

I bought myself one of these in 89 as my university graduation present to myself

I rented one o' those once. Kinda cool(for a car.). Prefer my vans.

First gigmobile. Thunderbird wouldn't have fit, 63 piggyback Bassman barely did. I played an EB-3 at that time.(File pic)

Second gigmobile. Everything fit.('nuther file pic-mine was red)

All subsequent gigmobiles have been vans of various sizes.
Didn’t your rear seat back flip down? Mine did in my ‘59.

My parents had the same model, color and year.

Only FoMoCo would put out such cool looking vehicles with a supercharged V6, ride control and then put in cloth interiors. SMH.

If you lived in south FL, you'd prefer the cloth. Leather/vinyl gets really hot and people wear shorts-a lot-down here.:eek:

Mopar all the way for me. It’ll never happen though.
:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
In the very late 70s there was a guy a few miles from me who owned about 6-7 Daytona Chargers and Superbirds. He got a Hemi once from Richard Petty somehow. Very unassuming house, but that was when their day was done and no one really wanted them. He would get them and fix them up. So cool to ride over to his house and see one or two out of being restored. Unimpressive area, but no one really wanted them much then. He did and likely made a small fortune. Those were the coolest cars ever.

All this muscle car talk and photos. I've had to sit on my hands to keep from joining in the car fest for fear of derailing the thread and bringing the wrath of moderators on us.

But I can't take it any more. Chuck has the trinity down pat, Chevelle SS/Cuda Hemi/Boss 429 are the general consensus in all the car clubs I've been in. Personally, I love the looks and engine in the SS but there are so many of them (and tributes) out there I've kinda gotten tired of seeing them. I think I'd substitute a 1968 Charger with a 426 hemi instead.

If ya gotta stick with the A body (Buick, Pontiac, Chevy, Olds) there's always the impossible to find 1970 Buick GSX stage 1 455. Arguably the best performer of the bunch.

Another muscle car I've really come to like is the 1970 Firebird Formula 400 with the dual snorkel hood. Still reasonably affordable for a muscle car. That and the AMX are probably some of the biggest bangs for the buck in muscle car choices.

Note: all the cars mentioned above are capable of hauling your Thunderbird bass to and from any gig in town in style. You may need to leave the passengers at home though. @Chucky Stiletti we'vet seen how a bird fits in a Smart Car, now we wanna see how it fits in an AMX.
