Thunderbird Club

Dunno. Never tried. Didn't have anything long enuff to require that. I got the TBird in 73, the first van in 70.
Maybe I should clarify. It wasn’t hinged, but it popped out easily and was designed to fit between the front seat backs and rear bottom cushion to make a surprisingly decent sized bed. IIRC, Volvo even offered a sleeper set with sheets, pillows and a blanket for a time. It was great at the drive-on and lookout point....

Visitors came while I was sitting in the back yard this morning. It was peaceful watching them until the little cavalier saw them and barked them away. Suburban WildlifeTM. That’ll be the name of my band if I can get to that point.

One word: Boomers. They specialize in low mids. Massive but punchy tone.

For my purposes I found the Pure Blues pretty disappointing. I wold label them meh, uninteresting with my rigs.
Getting ready to buy a set of Boomers for my BaCH or Greco but have a question that needs answering first.

Boomers come in Heavy, Medium, medium light, and light.

Don't know if there's tension differences between them or if there's any difference in sound. I do suspect the light strings would be easier on the fretting hand than the heavy strings, but that's not typically a problem for me. I am looking for a strong punch and deep tone and am trying to avoid a thin sounding G string, would like the G to be well balanced with the other strings and bold sounding.

So, what difference will the gauge make on a TBird? (Besides snapping the headstock off and putting an eye out).

These are kind of an NR Thunderbird (II) in disguise (set neck, all mahogany). I've had an F50R (jumbo acoustic) for 35 years. It's my favorite sounding acoustic of all time and I've always wanted a matching (headstock) bass to go with it. I almost got the white one yesterday (it was for sale locally) but it sold on Reverb on Thursday night... So the black one (which was cheaper but not as pristine) is on it's way. If it's a keeper I may have to refinish it in white; I really like that look.

All this muscle car talk and photos. I've had to sit on my hands to keep from joining in the car fest for fear of derailing the thread and bringing the wrath of moderators on us.

But I can't take it any more. Chuck has the trinity down pat, Chevelle SS/Cuda Hemi/Boss 429 are the general consensus in all the car clubs I've been in. Personally, I love the looks and engine in the SS but there are so many of them (and tributes) out there I've kinda gotten tired of seeing them. I think I'd substitute a 1968 Charger with a 426 hemi instead.

If ya gotta stick with the A body (Buick, Pontiac, Chevy, Olds) there's always the impossible to find 1970 Buick GSX stage 1 455. Arguably the best performer of the bunch.

Another muscle car I've really come to like is the 1970 Firebird Formula 400 with the dual snorkel hood. Still reasonably affordable for a muscle car. That and the AMX are probably some of the biggest bangs for the buck in muscle car choices.

Note: all the cars mentioned above are capable of hauling your Thunderbird bass to and from any gig in town in style. You may need to leave the passengers at home though. @Chucky Stiletti we'vet seen how a bird fits in a Smart Car, now we wanna see how it fits in an AMX.
there’s a tan GSX S1 in Aptos that’s just so scrumptious......
yeah, the Birds in cases fit ok, the BaCH in the gig bag fits better but since these are both 68’s....
