Thunderbird Club

Only listened to the Highway Star cover so far. I'm impressed. And I say that as a huge Purple fan who listened to the Fireball album only an hour ago. (Yes, I know it's a different album!)
Many make a debate out of which incarnation of DP is the best. But I have enjoyed each incarnation each for its own reasons.

Just saw her playing live (on SNL or the Tonight Show) the other day. It’s not stuff I listen to, but IMO she’s actually quite a good singer.
There was a full real band, very few superfluous vocal runs, and no auto-tune:D
I dislike her voice and find that she does everything as if it were "new country". Others are free to like it; I do not.

I get it, but I gotta have Lord, Glover, and Blackmore and Paice.

Korn is better than they get credit for. For some reason, people just want to hate on them (especially fieldy).

There are plenty of interesting covers out there:

And plenty of bad ones

She sings everything like she grew up in a trailer park somewhere in the south listening to "new country". Which might not be too far from what really happened...
Her version of that was awful.

I refuse to click on the last one.

Another cover.
I like this one.

Free cover. I posted a live version though the quality isn't that great because it kind of captures the energy of Blackfoot in concert. Talk about hot. They started out on fire and built from there. So much musical (not theatrical) energy you were somewhat drained after it was over.

White Thunderbird Wednesday?

Well, she finally sold right after a second price drop on Reverb (forgot to change it on TB. Oh well). The lighting doesn't show that she's a bright red cherry burst. I love my birds, but from a purely visual esthetics standpoint, this was easily the most beautiful instrument I've owned. Now she's in a UPS van headed to San Jose. I hope Anthony enjoys playing her as much as I have. Farewell, old friend.

Ironically, I had decided to take the listings down and just tell Sharon this was wall art when I found out she had sold. Say la vee. (sic)
Congrats on the sale. That is still one of the best looking guitars I've seen. I love it. Had I not had a strat and didn't need two, I would have bought it in a heart beat.

Gotta say I much prefer Chickenfoot's cover of Highway star.... Michael Anthony is a great bassist and singer with out doubt!

While I'll never be a rabid fan, Miley is very good covering Blondie's "Heart of Glass" here.

As our Floridian brother would say - tweechy zone. I found her cover of Blondie's song lacking in warmth and feel and emotion. It's almost like she had never heard the original song before and was just singing it out loud while looking at the sheet music. I did like that she didn't use obvious amounts of auto tune (if any) unlike so many female artists do these days. She's not my cup of tea, yet. But she does have the potential to improve with age. Maybe when she matures a bit and stops acting like a Girls Gone Wild high school cheerleader on spring break after a half dozen Jell-O shots I'll have more respect for her music.
(Then again, maybe I just need the Jell-O shots to respect her music).

I like a lot of new country, but not a fan of her sound/image/persona.

I’d rather listen to Geddy.
Well, I don't know if I'd go that far... on second thought, yes, I'll go that far.

Someone told her "just belt it out". No worries about feeling or nuance.
Bingo! That might be my biggest problem with her musical contributions. It's all so predictable and merchandised. It seems like she spends more effort trying to sell her look than her sound.

Thanks for confirming Scott. I should have been more precise that is was the NRs that were often mixed. Don't think I ever saw an early Thunderbird that wasn't all nickle.
I guess I was mistakenly under the impression that all TBirds from the 60's had nickel covered pups, not Chrome. Learn something new here every day.

I'm with you. I'm just hoping she wasn't born in Ky like her dad.
That's ok, I didn't like her dad either.

Is NBW a thing? To be honest, I was never a fan of the Guild "metal" guitars and basses in the early/mid 80s. I remember the B-301 and 302s (roughly 1977-81), but they never stood out all that much to me until I saw one recently and immediately knew I needed one. These photos are straight out of the box. I'm gonna try and be done for a while...

I can honestly say the 2 videos here are the first I've ever heard of her-partly.
