Thunderbird Club

It's hard to get this in a photo, but anyone have any idea what this might be from? This is the 1976 BC Rich. The sort of circle outline around the pickup. It's perfectly symmetrical and flat at the bottom. I have no idea what it is. You can only see it in certain light.

Almost looks like the impression from an old Stingray bridge. Of course the pup would have had to have been removed first, and then a bridge pressed into it, for who knows what reason.

Yeah, I did think about that, but these Bodines/Eagles never had pickguards. Plus there are no screw holes there.

Edit: Sorry, you said bridge. But the bridge is way down from that, below the lower pickup.

Gotta say I much prefer Chickenfoot's cover of Highway star.... Michael Anthony is a great bassist and singer with out doubt!

While I'll never be a rabid fan, Miley is very good covering Blondie's "Heart of Glass" here.

Both pretty awesome covers. Too badd the bass was mixed so low on Highway Star, though.

Many make a debate out of which incarnation of DP is the best. But I have enjoyed each incarnation each for its own reasons.
My favorite is Mk II, but that’s not about who’s best. And a big part of that is them being the sound track for those years. They certainly made incredible music. But yeah, they were all great.

I refuse to click on the last one.

Another cover.
I like this one.

Free cover. I posted a live version though the quality isn't that great because it kind of captures the energy of Blackfoot in concert. Talk about hot. They started out on fire and built from there. So much musical (not theatrical) energy you were somewhat drained after it was over.

White Thunderbird Wednesday?

Wow. Point Blank didn’t ignite the JATOs until the final instrumental break!

As our Floridian brother would say - tweechy zone. I found her cover of Blondie's song lacking in warmth and feel and emotion. It's almost like she had never heard the original song before and was just singing it out loud while looking at the sheet music. I did like that she didn't use obvious amounts of auto tune (if any) unlike so many female artists do these days. She's not my cup of tea, yet. But she does have the potential to improve with age. Maybe when she matures a bit and stops acting like a Girls Gone Wild high school cheerleader on spring break after a half dozen Jell-O shots I'll have more respect for her music.
(Then again, maybe I just need the Jell-O shots to respect her music).

I like a lot of new country, but not a fan of her sound/image/persona.

Well, I don't know if I'd go that far... on second thought, yes, I'll go that far.

Bingo! That might be my biggest problem with her musical contributions. It's all so predictable and merchandised. It seems like she spends more effort trying to sell her look than her sound.

I guess I was mistakenly under the impression that all TBirds from the 60's had nickel covered pups, not Chrome. Learn something new here every day.

That's ok, I didn't like her dad either.
We have to be related. I'm just going to say that I am your dumber and slightly younger brother.

Here's another kink in the story. '64 Epi with what should be the same pickups as the 64 Thunderbird. Yet the Epi's are chrome not nickel.

Is NBW a thing? To be honest, I was never a fan of the Guild "metal" guitars and basses in the early/mid 80s. I remember the B-301 and 302s (roughly 1977-81), but they never stood out all that much to me until I saw one recently and immediately knew I needed one. These photos are straight out of the box. I'm gonna try and be done for a while...

Looks good! I remember playing them when they came out but couldn't tell you a thing about them now. I don't recall if they were heavy or I am confusing that with the Ovation bases that were really heavy.

It almost looks like there was some kind of stick on pickguard around the pickup. Probably not, but whatever it is its consistent as far as the shape goes so it was certainly intentional whatever it was.

They were a great and interesting band from Texas, as you know doubt know. I and keyboard player friend got to meet and spend the afternoon with Kim Davis, the other guitar player once. Short story was they were opening up for Rossington Collins Band. Talked to Kim that afternoon and hung out a while and he was going to try to get us backstage at the concert. He told us to meet him over to the side of the stage when they got finished playing. We kind of figured he would forget all about it. As soon as they finished their set he saw a standing over to the side and came directly over to us and started talking with us again. Stood there for a long while and talked again until other people saw him talking with us so he said he was going to go take a shower and come back and see if he could get some passes. He couldn't so he came back and stood and talked to us for a long time again. Until Rossington Collins Band came out. They saw him standing there talking to us so several of them came over and talked and shook hands as well before going on stage. Sadly Kim took his life a few years ago. He was a really nice down to earth guy. Interesting fact. He used to be in a band with Stevie Ray Vaughan before either of them were famous.
