Thunderbird Club

It's hard to get this in a photo, but anyone have any idea what this might be from? This is the 1976 BC Rich. The sort of circle outline around the pickup. It's perfectly symmetrical and flat at the bottom. I have no idea what it is. You can only see it in certain light.

I don’t know. Could it be an indentation from a routing jig clamped down too hard that didn’t get noticed and fixed before the finish was applied?

 Feeling brave or carefree? You must be a magician to precariously balance that on a slick chair against the wall. You have my full admiration. Unless it fell right after you take the picture.

If it were turned around, we would know it has been a bad bird.

Sure looks fantastic!

You and me both! This working stuff is for the birds!
The day job thing sure gets in the way of a lot of more important stuff, like playing bass. But, the whole eating regularly and sleeping inside thing is keeping me from retiring. Plus, I kinda like my job. I get paid to be ornery and opinionated. Can't beat that.

Looks good! I remember playing them when they came out but couldn't tell you a thing about them now. I don't recall if they were heavy or I am confusing that with the Ovation bases that were really heavy.

It's funny that you mention the Ovation. I always thought of these two in the same category and was hoping the same thing. I haven't weighed it yet, but it's not heavy at all, and while the neck isn't in Tbird/Jazz territory, it is super comfortable to play. I'm really liking this bass!

I'm seeing a TBird body in the chair....
I made the chair, and got the 'Bird painted. I had nothing to do with the floor inlay except that it's in the dining room. Same with the lovely thermostat.

That Thunderbird is the Flamingo. I'm a little concerned that it might run away with Veronica if they ever met.

I'm used to balancing things. And it's not as precarious as it looks.

T bird Thursday here in ThailandLink Removed

Beautiful!
Please tell me about that beautiful II. Did it leave the factory that way or was it converted? I love reverse IIs and want to replace the ones I sold. I have been toying with the idea of converting a IV but haven't made steps to start that project yet.

Short, easy conversion from IV to II method: set bridge* pup volume @ 0. Done.

EDIT: also known as "superfluous" pup per @kat888

That's what I've done with my Classic Pro (for now, at least), & I lowered the bridge p/u down away from the strings.
Liking the sound a lot, seems to work well with it, but I may someday remove the excess pickup & fill the hole, just for the aesthetics

Same likes and I actually still like my job... been doing it too long and a career change at this point is pointless. I don't plan to work much longer so I may as well stay here where the checks always cash and in 31+ years, I've never missed one. It's also where I can check in on TB on the regular. Chances are in retirement, my popping up here will be greatly diminished; bike rides, tennis, golf, R/C airplanes, fishing, traveling... the list goes on. Too many hobbies to be good at most of them but I'm willing to suck at a few of them for the variety of it all.

I'll take a similar pic when I get home if I remember before going off to play tennis with my buddies,

:roflmao: It's a possibility. You two live fairly close to one another, right?

Or the Kat method. If it serves no purpose, rip it out!
