Thunderbird Club

I'm hearing that there may be a Seattle GTG in the Fall this year, you'd better bring it!

Are you working out of the office again? I've been at work without much break for better than a year - going to take a long weekend next week as I'm in need of some quality "girl time". I think Emerald City sold their '64 , there's another close to you though,
1964 Gibson Thunderbird II Vintage Bass Guitar John Entwistle Signed w/ Case | Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar | Reverb

Too bad it's signed, that's actually a turn off for me. I have a legal hoop to jump through before I can go ahead and buy a '64 this year, it's not too big a deal, my ex's name is still on the house title and it is in the process of being changed legally......Patience isn't one of my virtues.
I’d rock it, signature or not. But no way way I could justify spending that kind of money for it.

Normally I couldn't either, but circumstances actually allow for it to happen, it's been a goal of mine for quite a long time to own a '64, I'll keep it and at some point it will get sold (like all my basses) because I won't be around/able to play them, I'm certain that it will only go up in price when that time comes.

Meantime, this one got a new set of SIT Power Steels, I love it's big clankiness!

Lovely Spring day here in Seattle!

Same shop had a black one with a headstock repair that was its mate.

1995 Gibson Thunderbird IV Limited Edition Neck Through Electric Bass Ebony w/ Case | Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar | Reverb

It is currently on the way to me and I may start gracing this thread with my presence more often.

I may or may not turn it into a 5 string with a whammy bridge.
Happy Thursday.

In case any of ya’ll were wondering what happened to this guy, here’s an update:

Setup with 110-50 Blue Steels in C standard.

Mods so far:
- BWB plastic all around and black metal knobs to match his little brother
- Stap pins swapped to Dunlop dual-design
- Brass control cavity cover

Mods I might still do (in decreasing order of likelihood):
- Vol/Vol/Blend harness with push/pull knobs for Rick-o-sound (Gib-o-sound?) and bass bleed tone cap on the bridge pickup (harness already made; not yet installed)
- Gotoh Resolite tuners
- Strap pin relocation
- Whammy bridge

Mods I definitely won’t do:
- 5 string conversion

Nice. Power Steels are definitely among my strings of choice. Love them on the NR.

A longtime drummer friend is looking for a bassist for his cover band. It’s too far away for me to join, but he asked me to come out a few times so the rest of the band can experience what it’s like to play with a “real bass player” ;)
Maybe they’ve had some imaginary bassists?

Apparently there’s a Ampeg 810 I can use - can’t complain about that!
Gonna bring the VP for this set list. Not that I need to nail the sound, but does anybody know what that effect is on the bass in What You Need?
