Thunderbird Club

If my shirt does in fact come in with the Epi 'bird on it, I will be looking into the why of it since there is a distinct difference in what is a Gibson and an Epiphone Thunderbird logo.

I'd assume that whomever is in charge of this retail end of the business might not now what we know.
Maybe they copied the available Thunderbird pickguard decals available, which are also all Epiphone style.

:) Thanks! I'm playing the Teiscobird I posted the pic of d.i.'d through an 18" Carvin cab and a Mesa M2000 head. D'Addario nickel EXLBT's and the pu is a Guild RI Darkstar/Bi-Sonic. The body is a mid '60s mahogany Teisco Del Rey short scale that I redefined for 34" scale, and it has 500k pots and a Black Beauty .047 uf cap. The neck is from a Epi Goth T-bird of undetermined year. I also use a pick (Dunlop 1.14 Sure Grip) and incorporate palm-muting. On the recording of Insane Asylum I played finger-style to get more of a fat tone to fill out the sparse sections.

I've posted this before - but this is also the Teiscobird played with a pick.

Great tone, again. I would have not guessed you were using a pick, but recordings do affect tone and such things may not always be discernible.

Thanks again! I shape my pick tone for articulation and avoid clanky - none of our songs require it. I use my Ampeg B-15N cab with a late '60s JBL D140R live that is very dark and rich sounding. My Ashdown 550 Spyder (that I use live) is also very warm sounding. (dual tube preamp) That plus nickel rounds and palm-muting keep it all in a rounder zone.

He always wears nice shirts.

I have a similar vintage H Bar C 'California Ranchwear' western shirt that I bought for $25 in 1973 from a thrift store. $25 was a lot of money then and thrift stores didn't have "vintage sections" like some do now. I have worn it playing my '64 T-bird live.., but many years ago. :) It is a bit tight but still fits.

Anyone else bidding on this one? Looks like it sank with the boat..or someone with toxic sweat played it in the summer in 100% humidity.

If it goes much higher I might be out..

Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage PRO Bass - Alpine White 711106701189 | eBay

Finish stress crack (at the nut - no biggy) and the need to replace a few screws. Looks all cosmetic. Good luck!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. May have to do some cleanup with the electrics, particularly the output jack. Easy stuff, especially at that price....
