Thunderbird Club

Which begs the question - if you (or any club member here) could retire to any place in the US and gig with your bird for the rest of your playing days where would it be? What if you and your bird could gig into your old age anywhere in the world, where would that be?

No need to explain why (keep politics out of it) just list where you'd love to play your bird until your dying days.

Here, or out west, North West.

I still love Morro Bay.

I'm about one Gavin Newsome edict away from moving to SC - Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach and Lake Murray are all in contention.

I would refrain from dissing GN as it would tempt me to get political here and we all know where that would lead.

Try whippin out a Baldwin...

Really great news! My band The Sean Conneries will be the first band to play indoor at Winter Tavern since the lockdown this Saturday! :hyper: The adjacent beer-garden will still be open/accessible for those who are still hesitant about being indoors and being Memorial Day Weekend, CJ & Corine are anticipating a lot of people in attendance. We're keeping the outdoor start time of 4PM so as not to confuse people changing times at this late date, so it will still be light outside.

The Stingray? Eh, not really a fan of the sounds I can get out of it. It's not bad, just not...me, I guess.
Plays nice, I like the neck, well made, everything on it seems good quality, but...think I'll just stick with Thunderbirds
That's funny...I just asked the same question (and deleted it when I saw George's post). I kind of miss mine. I liked it and agree with everything you said. If I had it now, I'd likely sell it for a new NR. But it was really nice. Mine was older and had the PUs that were different than the SR4s. Actually liked the sound of the 5er I had more than the 4 with "better" PUs.

:rollno:That was pretty much my experience with the Stingray 5 as well. For me it boiled down to not being a fan of the 3 band preamp. It seemed like I was constantly fighting with the knobs to get the bass to sound good in a given song and then it just wasn't right for the next song.

:)The original Stingray with the 2 band preamp always sounds great and I found I could pretty much set it and forget it (like my Thunderbirds). I ended up offing the SR5 and keeping my 1979 Stingray.

Ya know, you could probably sell that SR5 for about what it would cost to buy that sweet Cherry Red Gibson TBird posted in the in Fremont Craigslist. ;)
Well said. I sold mine for what I paid. Out shipping, but I got to use it for several years.

Probably Dublin.

Since we're keeping it to the US......I like Sacramento :bag:
Probably here 'til the end, barring unforseen circumstances.

LOL - I guess it really was an EconoVette.
I got about 10mpg in my 71 big block on a good day. IIRC my friend with an "EconoVette" got about 30mpg. Of course he spent about as much fixing and repairing his car as I did in gas on mine. :D

My old '69 Coronet got 7-8 or so, but by the time I had fiddled with it for several years, it wasn't stock any more. Hot-rod 440s aren't exactly fuel efficient, especially in a car shaped like a brick :meh:

You know, I kind of like it here. Being here, makes it easy to get to other places I like. Don't like Winter, so further South might be nice. But change of seasons is really nice. Not the allergy part. This part of KY is one of the worst places for that.

Pacific North west (NorCal to Alaska) - the most beautiful ocean coast on the planet IMHO.
I have to admit that if I'm going to look over a beach, I love the sugar white beaches of West FL and AL. I love AL because it more laid back and not make-a-fool-of-yourself-central like some places. More family and common sense friendly.

Some nicer places even have foot washers inside...
