Thunderbird Club

Let me rephrase that for the married men on this thread...

Subarus and TBirds just go together nicely, like chocolate and ........:thumbsdown:.......what was that other thing called?

:laugh:

Or just wait until September 27th, that's supposed to be the day that our economy collapses. The exchange rate might look better then. ;)
Why will the economy collapse on September 27th? Nostradamus? Or what! I'll be putting that in my calendar to make sure I have a big coin jar full so I can buy the entire western world on September 28th. Plus a couple more Thunderbirds, just because.

It was a YouTube clip posted in the "Silver in place of Fiat Money" thread on TB. I think the logic is, buy lots of gold and silver now because your cash won't be worth anything after Sept 27th. Of course I think they kinda over look the fact that in a totally collapsed economy, if you have an abundance of gold and silver your LIFE won't be worth anything after sept 27th. Might as well paint a target on your back. :smug:

My plan is to wait until Sept 26th and then max out every credit card I have buying bass gear. Then the next day when the markets crash and the economy is in total collapse I'll default on all my loans. There'll be so many people declaring bankruptcy it'll take them months if not years to repo all my stuff. In the meantime I get to play with it for free! Besides, who cares what your credit rating looks like when everybody is bankrupt.;)

I think i've figured out a perfect line of endorsement if ever i was offered:

- Amp wise: Peavey (if they could replicate/re-issue my century bass head) & Orange cabs
- Cables: D'addario Planet waves
- Picks: Dunlop .88 green tortex (standard & triangle)
- Strings: D'addario
- Basses: Most likely ESP (if i go for know brands) because they could pretty much give me what i want in terms of tone. But i'd just continue using my own line of basses that i've built :P

No need to be endorsed by one sole pedal maker because although i'm an MXR guy, on my board i'll have some soundblox pedals as well.

What would yours be?

Hmm, not sure, given that I use gear from all over the map.
Especially since my cab is from a different manufacturer than my amp, and the cab's manufacturer (Sunn) is now defunct.

-Amps: Mesa (I use a Mesa D-180, but would have no problems upgrading to a Strategy if it were an option). Cabs might be an issue, since I'd be hard pressed to part with my Sunn 2000S 2x15. Or if I get a custom Dunwich, maybe that. Cabs would still be an issue, though, so I'll do it separately.
-Cabs: Whoever is willing to build be 2000S style 2x15 cabs loaded with Faital 15PR400 drivers.
-Picks: Dunlop 1.5mm and 2mm (both of these are purple).
-Strings: D'Addario nickel XLs.
-Basses: I use mainly Rickenbackers, and well, I'm not Lemmy, so no endorsement there. So beyond that, I guess whoever is willing to make me a bass using the Rickenbacker pickup positions, neck profile, and scale length. Obviously different body shape. Or maybe Epiphone or Peavey, if they're fine with me modding their basses heavily.
-Pedals: Dunwich, EHX, and Morley. I guess. I don't use one single pedal maker, though the majority of pedals on my board right now are EHX.

Out of curiosity, your username vdub75, what's that about? My type 2 in my avatar is a 75, lived its life in Portland Oregon until I had it shipped back here

got me :-D my first car was a 75 Superbeetle (black, green interior, 1300cc 44 hp)
I only drive "newer" Volkswagen's nowadays, Passat Wagons are my favourite, I have '96 VR6 now

As far as cabs go: wouldn't fender be a close reproduction since they were bought them? & basses you'd have free range to already mod their basses as a factory stock rather than simply acquiring one of their basses & modding it afterwards (which might be good to butcher to find the perfect mods :D )

I had a 75 Super beetle too, red with a grey interior I loved that car, I had to sell it eventually because I bought a Lotus Esprit and needed the maintenance money :roflmao:

Endorsing... well,

Ampeg, for that PR410HLF cab, best ever, but too heavy for my particular scene;
Hmm... heads, the best ever was Blue-Line SVT,I used to record through the direct out with a '76 Rickie. What a sound. But probably GK for gigging with.
Rickenbacker, and/or Gibson for basses;
Bullet cables, the coily ones;
Pedals? SansAmp VT w/DI.
Snark tuners. Lol.

I agree! Got this second hand with low kms. It's the most comfy car I've ever had. My daughter has a Rabbit!!

Way way back in time during the late 70's I had a mid 70's Super Beetle, it had an Autostick, what a dog but still fun. A few years later I bought a 1968 Bug, caught the engine on fire on the way to work one morning, only cost $600 to replace it. In 1981 I bought a brand new Rabbit Sport (pre GTI years) loved that car, but it had vinyl seats and no air conditioning - bad combination for hot humid Midwest summers. In the mid 90's I bought an Audi A4 Quattro, fantastic in the snow! In 2005 I bought a Porsche Cayenne S - fantastic on dry pavement, not on snow! Since then I've added two more Porsche products, a Cayman and a 911. So seven VW and related products for me, I've enjoyed every one of them for different reasons.

PS - I also had a Subaru Imprezza coupe somewhere in that mix. I wish I had taken a picture of it with my basses! :thumbsup:
