I like my LPB2/5, I don't regret buying it, it sounds great... and I hardly ever use it. But being unique, it's sticking around. If I ever 'need' one, I have one I'm comfortable playing...sorta.

i could really use one for some of the songs we do, but since my hands prefer wringable necks (gollum! gollum!) a BEAD is the next best thing, and all I need 98% of the time.

I've played a 5'r in a jam session - creates fun low-tone options. Just nothing I use on a daily basis.

I've been working lately on learning a 5-string properly-ish, instead of just a 4-string with 5 extra low notes. Hard to get used to.
But, I've tried BEAD on a few 4-strings, and it never really worked, or sounded, like I wanted. Haven't tried it yet with the Redbird or Blackbird, which I may at some point, maybe. :thumbsdown:

But, I'm starting to get acclimated to the Pro 5; it's helped since I've found a few songs to learn that need the low B string, and a few others that benefit from not having to down-tune.

But, if I can at some point get a 4-string that works like I want with BEAD, I'll probably go with that instead.

Using the original as a template I scored and broke the styrene, rounded the edges, drilled and countersink for the screw holes. After airbrushing a base coat of silver primer it was given a couple coats of purple enamel which I let harden for a few days. I laid the Bird design on a lightbox with some very thin styrene over the top, I then laid masking tape on top of that and cut the design out of the tape and arranged it on the pickguard. To finish it was given several coats of white followed by 3-4 coats of clear gloss lacquer.

I hear you. Some of the absolute best bass music in the world (maybe the best) was created with four strings, and at first I thought it was a fad that would die out. I'm still not so sure not all but a lot of it is not just cool "a thing" because others have them. Definitely useful for some, but not needed like other strings. You can defiantly use the B if you've got it, I was just never personally convinced of it was needed given that all of my favorite bass parts and songs were well done with 4 strings. But it's a cool option for those who want them and use them. Certainly wouldn't disparage anybody for liking them and I using them to great effect. As I said, one pedal makes any bass a 5er!
