Thunderbird Club

Posted b4 awhile(2-3 years)back but timely: (not to be used on Thunderbirds)

"The bass player had better tone than you. The BASS PLAYER."

I definitely want 500 years worth of relic'ing on my Thunderbird! If it was good enough during the Inquisistion, it's good enough now!

Ok, so the bed is not made. :smug:

 With all this distressed talk going on I was thinking earlier of why not go for a bass that looked like the one Daniel Boone played as he crossed into Kentucky, but you beat by a few hundred years and it will have a cool European feel and look to it!

Wow, Thunderbird Thursday again! :sour:
Seems like we were here just yesterday......

So I guess a new version of an old-ish pic?

Clearly, I'm going to have to be more creative at some point...:sorry:

AHEM!

Two weeks in a row @KaraQ posts a Thunderbird Thursday picture that includes the inadvertent inclusion of her pussy on a practice amp.

To keep things equal, here is my cock.

And gratuitous red JC for @GBassNorth

I was listening to Gimme Back My Bullets last night in going to sleep. I have some Sony earbuds that really let you hear the bass. I love the bass part on this. Some cool playing. (Computer speakers won't do it as the bass isn't terribly forward.) The tone has a nice raunchy texture to it.

I was due for new headphones for paddling etc. and picked up a set of these:

The sound is fantastic. Very clear bottom end and seem to have full range compared to other earbuds I've used.

Since there's been some discussion about various tunings, I thought I'd post this video from Stringjoy. They make good strings and I get email occasionally from them with various video topics. I thought this would be of interest.

Played bass or attempted to play bass for several decades now and have never used (needed?) an alternative tuning. Maybe one day I'll give it a try.

I have one bass strung BEAD. (my Factorbird fretless) I have made two 5-string basses (for sale) but I don't play a fiver or own one otherwise. I like it as a fretless but I just don't have that much need for a B-string.

I'm actually shooting this for @Instagator, it's a pickguard that I made from some sheet styrene. Using the original as a template I scored and broke the styrene, rounded the edges, drilled and countersink for the screw holes. After airbrushing a base coat of silver primer it was given a couple coats of purple enamel which I let harden for a few days. I laid the Bird design on a lightbox with some very thin styrene over the top, I then laid masking tape on top of that and cut the design out of the tape and arranged it on the pickguard. To finish it was given several coats of white followed by 3-4 coats of clear gloss lacquer.
Glenn, drop me a PM with your email and I'll send you the original

Happy Thunderbird Thursday

It's a sexy thing, I'll never get over Thunderbirds.

^^^After Many Moons in pieces, it breathes new life. I had a spark of artistic creativity & painted the "dead" tree complete with branches & roots. Sealed in Gloss, wired new Deep Sixx Epiphone Blackbird pickups to the single killswitch, Fret levelled, crowned & polished. & it plays like a dream. I honestly forgot how great this bass was to play - & am glad i had gotten it all done before my band's first album recording in mid december of 2020. Album is close to done & will be ready for release sometime this year (hoping/aiming).

I do need to tweak my other home built bigger spector/b.c.rich inspired Torched thunderbird, & that will also be in playing order.

Epic post, Andii :D

Maybe. No telling how deep he dented it and what else he did. I don't like it at all; looks very unnatural to me. Hard pass.
can't disagree, the price kinda makes it a no go. If it came with a case, maybe but that is because it isn't a natural relic (I just cant get on with this trend of buying a pre relic'ed anything). For me, because it's been butchered, it would fall under the refin consideration.
