A classic you don't see many of. I can't imagine the cost to replace that rear window should it break.


Should come with its own bottle of SPF90 sun screen for the rear passengers.


Heck with a blanket, move to Florida, take out the rear seat and install a hotdog rack. You could sell concessions at all the car shows during the summer - "Solar Dogs" should go over good with the energy conscious crowd.

Just dropped off my '69 Tele-bass for a check-up, have a feeling I have an open circuit on the pickup. I picked it up again recently and the output seemed far quieter than my other basses (though I know they tend to have some lower output), and the tone knob seems to be acting as a volume control. So that remains to be seen, but the guys I took it to are great, and recommended me both a pickup repair person they highly recommend if it needs it, as well as their go-to painter as I mentioned I might want to get it repainted. Either way, excited to get it back in to shape, though I doubt it'll deseat the Thunderbirds (and it needs to be tip-top in case that trade for then '64 II ever occurs).

THIS has been on my work bench all day today.

Finished the body in Linseed oil, the bottle can be seen standing to the left of the guitar. This picture doesn't do the striping pattern of the top justice, as it has a tight tiger stripe going on. I also need to re-drill the bridge as it's slightly offset.

I have no idea what kind of wood this is but it smells nice and looks really good. Yeah I admit it, the control cavity isn't the neatest job but you do what you have to do with a limited set of tools. Once I finish the back plate it will be covered up anyway.

So how does it play and sound?
- Very much like a Les Paul, surprisingly enough, seeing as how the neck has a Fender Scale length and is bolt on. But yeah, strapping it on feels just like strapping a Les Paul on, that typical balance is very much the same.

I'm glad that works, but it just looks like it would make dive worse. Glad that's not the case.

Try gaffa taping your strap to that spot and give it a try. No need to drill to test the theory

I've moved several of mine, but not to the back, to the upper wing on the end. (same location as on the Gibson Blackbird)

The only 'bird I've really had neck dive issues with is my Pro 5, and it helped tremendously. (but that wasn't my primary reason for moving it)

This is what I do, gives the heel more weight, works perfect. It'w what Spector does.

Can't say that I like the job he did. As someone that pays attention to how things actually wear in the real world, that's not so well done. All for the better I guess since I'm in the "No Ship to" zone.

My 67 NR was nearly pristine when I bought in March(?)'73. By the end of '73 it/I was playing 4 to 6 nights a week for the next~15 years. All the dings, scratches, H.S. repairs, etc. came about during my ownership. Surprisingly, there's no buckle rash on the back-I always kept that protected(untucked shirt or buckle offset to left). Lotsa little dings on the lower edge where it bumped against my stand mounted baritone sax.
