Thunderbird Club

Ahead of our first show on July 2, I was just lemon oiling the fretboard and polishing the rest and wow do my frets look like crap. They feel smooth, though. I guess they just need a polish?

Aside from a good belt sander I've had good success with Gorgomyte cloth (but don't used it like the directions and rub the fret dirt into the wood).
Gorgomyte Fret And Fingerboard Conditioner
GHS has a version as well.

This works well too:

While I'm totally aware that "BIL" is Brother-in-law, I figgered his "SIL" for son-in-law from the getgo. 'Course I'm strange...
Yeah, you were on the right track. I've been called a lot of things, but sister isn't one of them. Something having to do with the maternal a time or two.... Well, more than that...

Hold my beer...

I will be out of town tomorrow. The VP will arrive tomorrow. I 'fessed up to my wife who rolled her eyes and asked if it was another cymbal. She looked amused when I told her it was just a bass guitar.

I play upright or drums most of the time these days, fer chrissakes!. But never mind. She won't refuse delivery if it comes here. She was fairly pleased that it was in pensive for what it is. I kinda wish she understood music and instruments better, but I take indulgence and say thank you.
Indulgence is good!

I have one of Stew Macs fret erasers (not sure what to they call it but its like a hard eraser) that does a quick fret polish. If you don't have one - tape off the fb and use fine steel wool. (0000) Shines the right up!
I don’t tape off the fingerboard and give the rosewood a good scrub with 0000 while I’m at it. Then lemon oil it.

Well, as I replied to Jeff's post that Alice Cooper was my first concert and Slade was really the first band that I "got", PF was far too mellow and lacking in loud gnashing guitars and pounding drums. Another component of it was the "(drug) culture" that seemingly came with listening to PF, I can't speak for everyone but it seemed like the "thing to do" was get stoned and zone out to PF........Not sayin' I didn't smoke certain things in the '70s, but I realized I liked life without that kind of stuff a lot more and by the time High School was over I'd left the "culture" (and listening to PF while enjoying it) behind. When I hear it now, it reminds me of that time in my life and I don't regret leaving it behind.

TL;DR I'm odd, always have been............

I count at least 25 Thunderbirds in this picture.

I liked PF pre-drugs, but really fell in love during, and that’s when DSOTM came out. Interestingly, most of tge music I loved best high, tripping, etc., I still love. Not all, but most, from PF to the Dead to Hawkwind to ABB to …

Well, there's this: (Bright Boy track cleaner)

Reposting this because it's actually a great idea, I'd still tape off the fret board as this is abrasive but far easier to control than steel wool and it's non magnetic as well. Model Trains FTW!

Yeah, and the sides are just about the right size for frets. Now, whereinnahell is mine...?

Has anyone tried a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? It strikes me as a good option as it is a very fine grit abrasive, but am interested to see if anyone has actually done it.

If reconditioning a fb, (especially if a vintage and neglected neck/bass) I address the frets and then use a new/sharp flat-blade to scrape the fb. I then use Gerlitz Guitar Honey. I've found that steel wool can get stuck in the wood grain and it can also stain wood. Removing a very thin surface layer with a flat-blade (for me) does the best job.

I've followed the trends and we may see a very different Texas in the near future. Still, hard to imagine after the recent power outage fiasco and their (powers-that-be) bogus excuses related. I'll reserve possible further responses to... you know where...
First Phoenix became L.A. East and was ruined. Texas cities are next. I'll stop before getting too political.
