Thunderbird Club

First Phoenix became L.A. East and was ruined. Texas cities are next. I'll stop before getting too political.
I've always found it interesting that people get their way in some places, then don't like the consequences they didn't have the foresight to see, then have the gall to move to were a little more adult reason is in place but then try to implement the same nonsense thinking somehow or another it will be different this time. I want to say to such people:
"OK, I think you’re just pretending to be a moron, simply because I don’t believe you could actually be that stupid."

It's like Thunderbirds. Any reasonable adult knows that once you get a Thunderbird more will most certainly follow. It's called adult cognitive ability. Yet people are often shocked and surprised with the constant urge to stare at and long for "just one more" Thunderbird, and that this feeling never goes away.

See...

Has anyone tried a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? It strikes me as a good option as it is a very fine grit abrasive, but am interested to see if anyone has actually done it.

7 Things You Should Never Do With a Magic Eraser
  • Don't use them dry. ...
  • Don't use them to polish your car (or any delicately painted surface) ...
  • Don't use them without gloves. ...
  • Don't use them to clean delicate countertops. ...
  • Don't use them to wipe down nonstick pots and pans. ...
  • Don't try to brighten stainless steel.
Found this on the interwebs ... as it is not advised for stainless steel, it may not be the best for frets. Fine (1000) emory paper works to polish frets.

LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE STILL LIVING IN A MYSPACE WORLD!

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I guess they're tryin' to prevent anyone complaining they didn't see it, or the print's too small...my guess is it's been an issue before.

I've gotten a few basses from them, including my VP, and they've all been better than described. Got nothing but positive experiences with them

Even with the crazy fonts
(i just chalked it up to them being Yankees, and never paid it no mind....;) :bag: )

Interesting... Thank you.
For the record, I do use them without gloves and occasionally use them to clean the stainless steel sink when the usual cleaner doesn't seem to be doing an adequate job.

IIRC the concern around stainless is mostly geared towards stainless appliances that have a decorative brushed or polished finish. The micro grit in the magic wipes can mess up the look of the appliance. Stainless sinks should be fine because most people aren’t that concerned with swirls and streaks in the finish. That said, I wouldn’t get them anywhere near a porous fretboard where the micro grit could build up in the pores. My preference is still painters tape and steel wool, but it’s messy and best done outside. I might give Mike’s suggestion of model railroad track cleaner a try.

What? Didn't like the belt sander?;)

Yeah, most of the cautions revolve around people not understanding that it is abrasive. I don't know that I would worry about grit ending up in the pores of the fretboard wood, as my experience with them is that they come apart in chunks and any material loosened is absorbed into the spongy magic eraser, not fine dust scatterings. Before I do anything, there would be some experimenting and research.

Tried a set of the SIT Power Flats on my Gibson ‘Bird, but the tension was a bit too high, so I put em on my 35” scale Andrew Drake/Jio collaborated bass and they seem fine. Trying a set of Dunlop Super Brights on my TBird. Thinking of taking em both on the road this weekend to see what works best in this roots/country band I’m playing with. The SIT Power Steels sounded awesome on my TBird (thanks again, Ken!), but they’re just a bit dead after five gigs, which is more than I normally get out of rounds
