Just out of curiosity, I hooked up my current live rig (Mesa TT800/uBergHDN212) in the garage to test the new strings I put on my Gibson and Drake basses. The Drake has SIT Power Flats. They sound pretty nice to me, but you never fully know until you play in a band setting. So far I like em, but I’m not sure I like em as much as Cobalts, which punch like a roundwound.
Then I hooked up my ‘02 Gibson TBird (Lollar pickups) with the Dunlop MM Super Brights. I’d only ever tried the old Super Brights, which aren’t (ironically) terribly bright. The MM Super Brights are tear your head off bright! Holy cow. Anyone know if they tame down a bit fairly quick? Hope so, and I like fairly bright strings. They do have nice low end a punch.
Someone sent me a quick clip of Tuesday’s gig. Same live rig, but the ‘Bird still has the SIT Power Steels. In my mind, they seemed a bit dead, but hearing this clip, it coulda just been where I was standing on stage
